Manufacturing Project Engineer — CAD & Machining Specialist

Location: Rock Hill, SC

Schedule: 1st Shift, Monday–Thursday, 6:00 AM – 4:30 PM

Compensation: $70,000 – $80,000 per year

A day in the life

By 6:00 AM, you’re on the shop floor verifying dimensions against your latest CAD model. You huddle with production to confirm materials, tolerances, and machining steps, then head to your desk to refine drawings and prepare an estimate for a new job. Mid-morning, you’re back at a manual mill to shape a prototype feature, ensuring the design is both practical and efficient. Your afternoon includes updating project documentation in Excel and Word, answering questions in Outlook, and collaborating with teammates to streamline a process for faster turnaround. It’s hands-on engineering—equal parts shop and desk.

What you will do

  • Create, revise, and interpret CAD drawings and technical prints for manufacturing.
  • Assist with cost estimating and project scoping to support quoting and planning.
  • Partner with production and engineering to validate feasibility and accuracy.
  • Perform manual machining to support prototypes and project needs.
  • Use Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook for documentation, reporting, and communication.
  • Collaborate across teams to improve processes and drive project efficiency.
  • Engage directly on the shop floor—this role is hands-on, not solely desk-based.

What you bring

  • Proficiency with CAD software and reading/creating technical drawings.
  • Experience in manufacturing, machining, or a similarly hands-on environment.
  • Background in estimating or cost analysis is a plus.
  • Comfort with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook).
  • Strong problem-solving skills and meticulous attention to detail.
  • A desire to work directly in a production setting.
  • Clear communication skills and a collaborative mindset.
