A day in this role

When you arrive on the production floor, you’ll start by reviewing overnight build logs and incoming shipment records. Your morning may include verifying supplier parts with calipers and micrometers, flagging any deviations, and updating quality records. By midday, you’ll be collaborating with production, engineering, and global stakeholders to resolve nonconformities, driving corrective and preventive actions, and preparing for internal or external audits. You’ll close the day with End-of-Line checks, documenting results, and coaching operators on quality best practices—all in service of Nordex’s mission to make 100% renewable energy a reality.

Impact and responsibilities

  • Verify incoming, in-process, and End-of-Line output against quality standards, specs, and applicable regulations.
  • Continuously observe manufacturing steps to spot material, component, or assembly variances and help resolve them quickly to keep production moving.
  • Create and maintain Nonconformity, Deviation, and Non-Compliance records; drive containment and follow through to effective closure.
  • Maintain complete traceability: inspections, measurements, test outcomes, and CAPA documentation.
  • Support root cause analysis with cross-functional teams and implement corrective and preventive action plans.
  • Identify opportunities for continuous improvement in partnership with production and engineering.
  • Engage suppliers to resolve issues tied to incoming materials and supplier performance.
  • Prepare for and participate in internal and external audits.
  • Operate and interpret precision measurement tools (calipers, micrometers, and electronic gauges) to validate product conformity.
  • Share know-how: provide hands-on guidance and quality training to production teams.
  • Contribute to plant objectives with additional quality tasks as needed.

What you bring

  • High school diploma or GED required; Bachelor’s in Quality or a Technical field preferred.
  • 3+ years in manufacturing quality control; wind turbine manufacturing experience (2+ years) preferred.
  • Strong command of inspection methods, quality standards, and reading mechanical/electrical schematics.
  • Understanding of electrical or mechanical systems and components.
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills; effective cross-team collaboration.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Excel) and Quality Management Systems such as SAP QM.
  • Hands-on experience opening, tracking, and closing nonconformities from the production line.
  • Organized, self-directed, and reliable with a high attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated leadership, adaptability, and follow-through in dynamic environments.
  • Ability to lift or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Familiarity with ISO 9000:2000 Quality Systems is a plus.
