Title: Manufacturing Quality Inspector
Location: Goodyear, AZ
Target Start Date: ASAP
Type: Contract
Join a fast-moving energy technology environment where quality has a direct impact on the reliability and delivery of large-scale products. This position gives you significant ownership on the manufacturing floor, working closely with quality, manufacturing, engineering, operations, and supplier teams. It is a strong opportunity for someone who enjoys being hands-on, identifying problems before they become larger issues, and helping improve manufacturing quality from production through shipment.
Job Description
The Contract Manufacturing Quality Inspector will serve as the on-site quality representative at contract manufacturing and supplier facilities. This individual will monitor production activities, perform in-process, final, and pre-shipment inspections, verify products and processes against technical requirements, and identify potential quality issues before they result in product escapes.
The inspector will document nonconformances, support containment and corrective actions, verify approved engineering and process changes, maintain accurate inspection and traceability records, and help ensure all quality requirements are satisfied prior to shipment.
In addition to hands-on inspection responsibilities, this position will have a strong focus on daily quality reporting, data collection, documentation, and communication of inspection results. The inspector will be responsible for capturing accurate quality and production data, consolidating information from the manufacturing floor and other shifts, and communicating findings through established reports and presentations. The individual should be comfortable taking raw inspection data and organizing it into clear, accurate information that can be reviewed by Quality leadership, Engineering, Operations, manufacturing partners, and customers.
The position works closely with manufacturing, quality, engineering, operations, and supplier personnel and requires someone comfortable independently making observations, documenting findings, escalating risk, and working within established quality and safety procedures.
Required Skills
- Experience performing quality inspections in a manufacturing, supplier, energy, construction, or related industrial environment
- Experience performing in-process, final, and/or pre-shipment inspections
- Ability to interpret drawings, specifications, bills of material, work instructions, inspection plans, and acceptance criteria
- Experience identifying and documenting nonconformances and supporting or verifying corrective actions
- Ability to prepare clear and complete Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs) that provide Quality and Engineering teams with sufficient information to investigate and determine appropriate resolution
- Ability to translate inspection observations into objective, measurable findings using specifications, tolerances, measurements, and established acceptance criteria
- Experience collecting, organizing, and accurately documenting quality and production data
- Ability to complete and maintain daily quality reports documenting inspection activity, defects, nonconformances, production/quality metrics, and other relevant findings
- Ability to consolidate information from multiple sources or shifts and communicate key quality findings through effective shift handoffs and daily reporting
- Strong computer skills and comfort working in a technology-driven manufacturing environment
- Proficiency with Microsoft PowerPoint, Excel, and Word
- Ability to create and update PowerPoint-based quality reports and presentations using established templates
- Comfortable working with data in Microsoft Excel; advanced macros or complex formulas are not required, but candidates must be comfortable entering, organizing, reviewing, and communicating data
- Ability to clearly communicate and, when needed, present quality findings and data to Quality leadership, Engineering, Operations, manufacturing partners, and customers
- Working knowledge of quality processes, inspection methods, traceability, and controlled quality documentation
- Ability to maintain accurate inspection records, photographs, serial-number traceability, and supporting quality evidence
- Ability to identify, contain, document, and escalate manufacturing quality concerns
- Ability to work independently in an on-site manufacturing environment
- Strong attention to detail, judgment, communication, organization, documentation, and follow-through
- Ability to comply with facility safety, PPE, security, confidentiality, and scheduling requirements
