Our client is seeking an experienced Manufacturing Quality Manager to lead the development, implementation, and oversight of a Quality Assurance program compliant with ASME NQA‑1. This role ensures that manufacturing processes, materials, documentation, and supplier activities meet stringent nuclear‑grade quality and regulatory requirements. The position provides leadership to quality engineers, inspectors, and technicians while driving audit readiness, supplier quality, and continuous improvement.

Responsibilities:

Quality Program Management

  • Develop and maintain NQA‑1 compliant QA programs.
  • Provide training on NQA‑1 standards and internal QA procedures.
  • Maintain QA manuals, procedures, controlled documents, and records.
  • Ensure compliance with NRC, DOE, and ITAR requirements where applicable.

Manufacturing Quality Oversight

  • Develop quality plans for new or modified products.
  • Oversee inspection, testing, and verification activities.
  • Support a safe, compliant manufacturing environment.
  • Ensure full traceability of materials, parts, and processes.
  • Review and approve manufacturing procedures, documentation, and work instructions.

Audits & Compliance

  • Lead internal and external audits as a certified lead auditor.
  • Interface with customers, suppliers, and regulatory agencies.
  • Drive timely closure of audit findings and corrective actions.

Supplier Quality Management

  • Qualify, audit, and monitor suppliers to NQA‑1 or equivalent standards.
  • Review supplier documentation (CoCs, test reports, material certifications)
  • Ensure supplier compliance with procurement and technical specifications.

Nonconformance & Corrective Action

  • Verify effectiveness of corrective actions.
  • Lead root‑cause analysis and CAPA activities.
  • Manage NCRs, dispositions, and material review processes.

Team Leadership

  • Lead and mentor quality engineers, inspectors, and technicians.
  • Promote a culture of safety, quality, and continuous improvement.
  • Provide coaching and performance management for quality personnel.

Documentation & Records Control

  • Maintain controlled documents, WSPs, RCs, and quality records.
  • Ensure configuration control and revision management per NQA‑1.
  • Support QMS, document control systems, and audit/CAPA tracking tools.

Qualifications (Must-Haves)

  • Excellent analytical and problem‑solving skills.
  • Formal supervisory experience leading quality teams.
  • Strong leadership and team‑management capability.
  • Effective communication and audit‑management skills.
  • High attention to detail and documentation accuracy.
  • Familiarity with NRC/DOE/ITAR regulatory environments.
  • Deep understanding of quality systems, codes, and standards.
  • Strong working knowledge of ASME NQA‑1, ISO 9001, or AS9100.
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field or equivalent experience.
  • Experience leading audits, supplier qualification, and regulatory compliance.
  • Hands‑on experience with NCRs, CAPA, traceability, and document control.
  • 7–10+ years of quality assurance experience in nuclear, aerospace, defense, or other highly regulated manufacturing.
