We are looking for a motivated individual to join our team as a Manufacturing Supervisor, 1st Shift at our Richmond Heights, OH location. We are looking for an individual who is eager to learn and grow with our team. Previous experience is a plus but not required. We provide on-the-job training and opportunities to develop new skills and grow within the company. Objectives:
  • Leads, manages and coordinates activities of associates engaged in manufacturing processes of production 
  • Uphold the Merit Brass corporate mission statement, acting with a sense of urgency and upholding the core values as published 
  • Maintain a professional, ethical and respectful attitude while exercising teamwork 

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrates a commitment to associate engagement, personal responsibility and accountability for the department
  • Responsible for communicating and coordination of the labor hours, shift schedules, daily workload scheduling and reviewing previous daily, weekly and monthly performance, both at the individual and departmental level 
  • Responsible for the performance review process, feedback, coaching, mentoring, development and training of each associate, recommend or initiate promotions, transfers and disciplinary action  
  • Participates in the interviewing, hiring, performance improvement and termination process as needed 
  • Serves as a resource and content expert to team members; providing them with guidance and being available to answer questions to clarify the work activities 
  • Relates all new or revised policies, procedures and /or processes to team members to ensure the most up to date and current information is being used 
  • Accurately maintain production entry functions to reflect departmental activities
  • Strives to achieve Merit Brass production metrics including reduced errors, on-time delivery, accuracy and customer service 
  • Assists in all activities that support inventory accuracy, on-time delivery of product and customer (internal & external) satisfaction 
  • Support Merit Brass by actively listening to any suggestions, concerns or opportunities of associates 
  • Ensures work areas and production operations / processes conform to safety requirements and are hazard free 
  • Works with management to establish and modify department operational methods and procedures, with an effort to continuously improve our processes
  • Willingness and ability to work overtime 
  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • High School diploma, GED or equivalent education 
  • Minimum of three years of Manufacturing experience and/or training: or equivalent combination of education and experience 
  • Demonstrate success in a leadership role with analytical problem-solving abilities 
  • Ability to communicate at all levels and with all departments within the company (manufacturing, shipping / receiving, purchasing, sales etc.) 
  • Knowledge of OSHA regulations preferred 
  • Ability to read scale / rulers, prints, micrometers, and calipers 
  • Ability to perform effectively under conditions of fluctuating workload 
  • Self-motivated to manage processes and project deadlines
  • Willing and able to continuously improve yourself, others, and the operations in a fast-paced, changing environment 
  • Knowledge of basic computer skills in Microsoft Office, Excel, Word, Outlook, and RF Scanning 
  • Able to stand, reach, bend, push and pull bulky material for the entire shift and capable of lifting 50-70 lbs. frequently
