Manufacturing Technician – Battery

Location: Long Beach, CA (and surrounding area)

Position Type: Contract 

Pay Rate: $25.00 / hour

Schedule: Monday – Friday, Mid-Shift (8:00 AM – 6:00 PM)

About the Role

We are seeking a detail-oriented Manufacturing Technician - Battery to join our production team in supporting cutting-edge aerospace and technology hardware manufacturing. In this role, you will provide critical operational support across cell screening, cell testing, and battery assembly processes.

This is a hands-on position ideal for individuals who thrive in fast-paced production environments, follow precise safety procedures, and take pride in maintaining high quality and workplace standards.

Key Responsibilities

Cell Screening & Material Handling

• Receive, unpack, and inspect incoming cell deliveries for physical defects (e.g., damage, leaks, or swelling).

• Sort, organize, label, and barcode cells accurately by batch and specification.

• Load and unload cells into screening equipment following standard operating procedures.

• Accurately log batch and traceability data into production systems.

• Maintain clean, organized storage areas adhering to proper orientation and temperature guidelines.

Cell Testing Support

• Prepare test fixtures, trays, and testing rigs prior to test runs.

• Load/unload cells and monitor equipment during testing cycles, notifying technicians of any anomalies or alarms.

• Record cycle data, test results, and process deviations on physical log sheets or digital platforms.

• Assist with basic equipment cleaning, changeovers, and station consumable replenishment.

Battery Assembly Support

• Kit, collect, and deliver materials, parts, and sub-assemblies to designated workstations.

• Assist lead technicians with placing and orienting cells into modules or trays.

• Perform manual handling tasks including lifting, positioning, and transferring components.

• Apply required labeling and documentation to completed assemblies.

• Inspect finished components for visible defects and maintain clean, organized workstations adhering to 5S standards.

General Production & Workplace Safety

• Strictly adhere to all Health & Safety guidelines, mandatory PPE rules, and Electrostatic Discharge (ESD) procedures.

• Follow all Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and participate in shift handovers and team briefings.

• Promptly report quality issues, safety concerns, or near-misses to line leads

Qualifications & Requirements

• Experience: Minimum 1 year of experience in manufacturing, production, or assembly environments (Aerospace, Hardware, or Battery Manufacturing experience preferred).

• Skills: Experience or familiarity with ESD packaging, cell testing, battery assembly, or cell screening processes.

• Work Ethic: Strong attention to detail, excellent manual dexterity, and the ability to strictly follow SOPs.

• Physical & Environmental: Ability to stand for extended periods, perform manual lifting/positioning, and work safely around sensitive electronics.
