PGS Worldwide is seeking Manufacturing Technicians in Goleta, CA for one-year contract-to-hire roles supporting a leading aerospace & defense company.

The Manufacturing Technicians will support fabrication, assembly, rework, quality testing, setup, calibration, and process support for spacecraft component manufacturing. These onsite roles require mechanical aptitude, the ability to read engineering drawings, hands-on manufacturing experience, Microsoft Office skills, and the ability to work with fragile composite materials and adhesive controls.

Required Skills

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • 2+ years of additional education and/or related manufacturing, assembly, mechanical, or technical experience.
  • U.S. citizenship required.
  • Ability to read, write, and follow instructions written in English.
  • Demonstrated mechanical ability.
  • Ability to read and follow engineering drawings and/or schematics.
  • Familiarity with hand tool usage and safety, including tools such as wrenches and screwdrivers.
  • Familiarity with torque concepts.
  • Ability to navigate and operate in Microsoft Office, including Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
  • Ability to support fabrication or assembly of mechanical components for larger assemblies.
  • Ability to perform rework and quality testing related to parts, components, subassemblies, and final assemblies.
  • Ability to handle and manage fragile composite materials.
  • Ability to track adhesive material usage, traceability, pot life, and out-time controls.
  • Ability to report data and communicate with other employees and departments.
  • Ability to lift, push, or pull up to 40 lbs.
  • Ability to stand or be on feet for extended periods during the workday.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, overtime, and different shifts based on manufacturing schedules.
  • Initiative, adaptability, and strong motivation for quality performance.

Preferred Skills

  • Proficient use of electronic test equipment such as DC power supplies, digital multimeters, and source meters.
  • Proficient use of basic shop arithmetic.
  • Experience with ISO requirements, standards, or compliance.
  • Experience with cranes, rigging, forklifts, or similar manufacturing equipment.
  • Soldering experience.
  • J-STD certification.
  • Experience supporting mechanical, electromechanical, composite, aerospace, defense, spacecraft, or high-reliability manufacturing environments.
  • Experience assisting engineers with setup, calibration, testing, fabrication, or manufacturing process improvements.

What You’ll Do

  • Perform manufacturing operations involving fabrication and assembly of mechanical components.
  • Support production of parts, components, subassemblies, and final assemblies.
  • Work with engineers on setup, calibration, testing, and process support tasks.
  • Perform rework and quality testing.
  • Set up and test prototype units and subassemblies under operational conditions.
  • Analyze data and recommend modifications to components or test procedures.
  • Assist mechanical engineers with mechanical and electromechanical design, test, and fabrication activities.
  • Use programs to collect and evaluate operating data.
  • Make online adjustments to products, instruments, or equipment as needed.
  • Help determine and improve methods and procedures used to control or modify manufacturing processes.
  • Handle fragile composite materials according to required procedures.
  • Track adhesive usage, traceability, pot life, and out-time controls.
  • Read and follow manufacturing drawings, engineering drawings, schematics, and shop planning.
  • Maintain shop cleanliness, organization, and safe working conditions.

Work Schedule / Shift

  • 9x80 A schedule.
  • Full-time, 40 hours per week.
  • Onsite role.
  • Flexible hours, overtime, or different shifts may be required based on manufacturing schedules.

Pay

  • $29.11/hour
