Senior Test Engineer – Server Hardware Validation & Debug

Location: Hudson, NH

Pay Rate: $40.00 – $50.00 per hour

Schedule: Full-Time | Onsite

Industry: Server Hardware / Electronics Manufacturing

Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced Senior Test Engineer to support the validation, debug, and production testing of advanced Intel-based server hardware platforms. This role is responsible for leading system-level troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and validation activities to ensure high-quality, reliable products within a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

The ideal candidate will possess strong hands-on experience with Intel server architectures, motherboard validation, and complex hardware debug. This individual will work closely with hardware design, BIOS, firmware, manufacturing, and quality teams to resolve technical issues, improve test processes, and support successful product launches and ongoing production.

Key Responsibilities

Hardware Validation & Debug

  • Perform advanced hardware debug and root cause analysis on Intel-based server motherboard platforms.
  • Diagnose complex board-level and system-level failures using industry-standard diagnostic equipment.
  • Support board bring-up, validation activities, and issue resolution during development and production.
  • Analyze failure modes and implement corrective actions to improve reliability and product performance.
  • Troubleshoot hardware issues involving processors, memory, power systems, and high-speed interfaces.

Test Development & Validation

  • Develop, execute, and maintain:
  • Validation plans
  • Test procedures
  • Test methodologies
  • Test scripts and documentation
  • Verify product functionality, performance, and reliability against engineering specifications.
  • Improve validation coverage, test efficiency, and overall test effectiveness.
  • Document findings, test results, and recommendations.

Manufacturing & Production Support

  • Support manufacturing operations by investigating and resolving production hardware failures.
  • Work closely with manufacturing teams to improve first-pass yield and reduce recurring defects.
  • Participate in failure analysis and corrective action activities.
  • Provide technical support for production testing and product quality initiatives.
  • Drive continuous improvement efforts using production data and root cause findings.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Collaborate with Hardware Design, BIOS, Firmware, Quality, and Manufacturing Engineering teams.
  • Participate in design reviews and provide validation feedback during product development.
  • Communicate technical findings and recommendations to engineering leadership and project teams.
  • Support new product introductions and production readiness activities.

Continuous Improvement

  • Identify opportunities to improve testing through automation, tooling enhancements, and process optimization.
  • Standardize validation procedures and test documentation.
  • Promote best practices in hardware validation and debug methodologies.
  • Mentor junior engineers and provide technical guidance as needed.

Required Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in:
  • Electrical Engineering
  • Computer Engineering
  • Related engineering discipline

Experience

  • 5–10 years of experience in:
  • Hardware validation
  • System-level debug
  • Test engineering
  • Server hardware development or manufacturing support
  • Experience debugging Intel-based server platforms and processor boards.
  • Experience supporting manufacturing or production environments.
  • Ability to contribute immediately with minimal onboarding or technical ramp-up.

Technical Requirements

  • Strong understanding of Intel server architecture and motherboard design.
  • Experience debugging complex server hardware and digital systems.
  • Knowledge of digital interfaces and communication protocols.
  • Experience using hardware debug tools, including:
  • Intel ITP
  • JTAG
  • Oscilloscopes
  • Logic analyzers
  • Strong root cause analysis and troubleshooting abilities.
  • Experience developing and executing validation plans and test procedures.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Python, Perl, or other scripting languages for test automation.
  • Experience improving manufacturing test processes.
  • Knowledge of reliability engineering, quality systems, or Six Sigma methodologies.
  • Experience leading technical initiatives or mentoring junior engineers.
  • Exposure to high-volume electronics manufacturing environments.
