Job Summary
Manufacturing Engineer specializing in tooling and fixture design/development for manufacturing, assembly, welding, and inspection applications. The role requires strong SolidWorks CAD, 3D fixture design, GD&T, fabrication drawings, production support, time studies, motion studies, line balancing, and process improvement experience. The engineer will collaborate with Manufacturing and Quality teams to validate fixtures, troubleshoot shop-floor issues, optimize processes, and support NPI and continuous improvement initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
Lead the design and development of manufacturing, assembly, welding, and inspection fixtures using SolidWorks.
Develop 3D fixture layouts, assemblies, and fabrication drawings using GD&T.
Collaborate with Manufacturing and Quality teams to validate fixture designs, support trials, and resolve shop-floor issues.
Drive improvements in process capability, productivity, and cost through fixture and process optimization.
Develop and maintain standardized work instructions for fixture usage, operator guidance, and safety.
Conduct time studies and motion studies to establish cycle times and improve manufacturing efficiency.
Perform line balancing and takt-time analysis to optimize workstation layouts and production flow.
Support NPI and continuous improvement through fixture optimization and process refinement.
Provide production and shop-floor support for tooling and manufacturing issues.
Support process improvement and cost-reduction initiatives.
