Standardized Job Description — All Facilities 

Position Type: Non-Exempt 

Reports to (Position Title): Production Supervisor or Training Manager 

Position Summary 

The Manufacturing Trainer identifies training needs, develops training plans and curriculum, and tracks employee skill progression across manufacturing processes. This role is primarily planning- and coordination-focused, working closely with Manufacturing Floor Trainers, who deliver hands-on shop-floor instruction, and with facility safety staff on compliance training. 

Responsibilities 

• Evaluate employees and identify weaknesses or gaps in production skills through data analysis, floor observation, and supervisor feedback 

• Develop training plans and curriculum tailored to individual and facility skill needs 

• Develop training materials and presentations, including PowerPoint presentations, instructional videos, and written guides 

• Coordinate training schedules with facility leadership and Manufacturing Floor Trainers to ensure timely onboarding and recertification 

• Identify and recommend candidates for skill progression based on data and floor feedback 

• Track and report on employee training completion, certification status, and program effectiveness 

• Assist in the rollout and communication of new training programs across facilities 

• Develop and administer written evaluations to assess employee comprehension of training content; score, document, and maintain records 

• Facilitate training on manufacturing safety and regulatory compliance topics, in partnership with the Safety Specialist 

• Support safety audits, toolbox talks, and compliance walkthroughs alongside the Safety Specialist 

• Maintain Safety Data Sheets (SDS), safety signage, and required compliance postings, as applicable 

• Support incident and near-miss investigation documentation 

• Perform job hazard analyses and risk assessments for new or modified processes 

• Analyze training data to identify systemic skill gaps and recommend program improvements 

• Develop new training curriculum and update existing training materials 

• Maintain records for forklift and crane certifications, in coordination with Manufacturing Floor Trainers 

• Escalate safety, quality, or training concerns immediately 

• Maintain an organized and clean work area 

Qualifications (Education, Experience, Skills, Personal Attributes) 

• High School Diploma 

• Experience in a manufacturing/steel fabrication environment required 

• Computer literacy of Microsoft Windows software such as Microsoft Office Suite required 

• Working knowledge of arc welding processes for carbon, stainless, and alloy metals preferred (for curriculum development purposes) 

• Familiarity with liquid and powder type coatings preferred 

• Familiarity with ASTM specifications, AWWA standards, and AWS/ASME welding codes desired 

• Working knowledge of manufacturing safety practices and regulatory compliance requirements; OSHA familiarity preferred 

• Good written and oral communication skills required 

• Strong group facilitation and public speaking skills 

• Good problem-solving capabilities desired 

• Ability to analyze data and identify trends to inform training program design 

• Must be able to work independently, efficiently, and be self-motivated and detail oriented 

Split out from the former single Manufacturing Trainer JD per your direction: this role carries the training plan/curriculum development, tracking, and safety/compliance training coordination duties, while hands-on shop-floor machine/welding/coating instruction now lives in the separate Manufacturing Floor Trainer JD. Both roles draw on the same original source documents (UCF Manufacturing Trainer, the Manufacturing Trainer Position Profile, and the Fabrication and Manufacturing Compliance Trainer document).
