A Manufacturing Welder is responsible for performing high-quality welding, fabrication, and repair of metal components and structures in a manufacturing environment. This role requires precision work on a variety of materials, including stainless steel, aluminum, and specialty alloys, while strictly adhering to safety, quality, and industry standards.
Key Responsibilities
Fabrication & Welding: Perform MIG (GMAW), TIG (GTAW), Stick (SMAW), or Flux-Cored (FCAW) welding in flat, vertical, and overhead positions to join, fabricate, or repair metal components.
Blueprint & Technical Interpretation: Read and interpret blueprints, weld symbols, sketches, and work orders to accurately measure, calculate, and assemble components according to specifications.
Material Preparation: Prepare metal surfaces by cutting, grinding, cleaning, and fitting parts using hand tools, grinders, plasma torches, and other fabrication equipment.
Equipment Setup & Maintenance: Set up welding machines, select proper filler materials, adjust amperage and voltage, change gas cylinders, and perform routine equipment maintenance or troubleshooting.
Quality Control & Inspection: Inspect finished welds for cracks, porosity, distortion, or other defects, ensuring compliance with manufacturing standards and codes (such as AWS or ASME).
Finishing Work: Perform post-weld finishing, including grinding, smoothing, cleaning, and repairing welds to meet tight tolerances and quality requirements.
Safety Compliance: Follow all safety procedures and protocols, including proper use of PPE (helmets, gloves, face shields, respirators), and maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
