About the role

Sunrise over the docks, a quick walk-through of the yard, and a warm greeting to Members and teammates. You review overnight maintenance tickets, check slip availability with Marketing, and huddle with supervisors to set the plan for the day. By mid-morning, you're tracking NPS feedback and resolving any escalations, then shifting to budget performance and inventory for the ship store. Afternoon brings a contractor meeting on a capital project, a safety talk on PPE, and a final pass along the piers to ensure our waterfront looks and operates its best.

What you'll own

  • Direct day-to-day marina operations to deliver a seamless Member and guest experience.
  • Model exceptional customer service and coach the team to the same high standard.
  • Lead, mentor, schedule, and develop all marina teammates; coordinate onboarding, training, and ongoing coaching.
  • Oversee maintenance across buildings, facilities, docks, lifts, equipment, Member areas, and grounds to ensure safety, reliability, and aesthetics.
  • Partner with the Marketing team to drive slip and service sales in alignment with brand standards and occupancy goals.
  • Manage Member and guest relations; resolve escalated concerns while advancing Net Promoter Score (NPS) targets.
  • Own financial performance: build and manage budgets, track variances, optimize profitability, and identify new profit centers.
  • Supervise inventory control for parts and ship stores as needed.
  • Maintain strong relationships with tenants, contractors, and local authorities.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, DEEP, and Department of Labor regulations.
  • Support planning and execution of capital expenditure projects.
  • Collaborate with HR to hire, train, and retain teammates in line with established policies and procedures.
  • Assist the corporate team with onboarding of new SHM marinas when needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by Manager.

Safety & environmental stewardship

  • Adhere to SHM Safety and Environmental practices and complete all required training.
  • Use appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) for each task and work area.
  • Immediately report all accidents, injuries, spills, and near misses.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate or Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • 5+ years of relevant experience preferred, including 2+ years in a supervisory capacity.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Teams, and Outlook.
  • CMM (Certified Marina Manager) certification preferred.
  • Background in budgeting, salary administration, accounts payable/receivable, and slip leasing preferred.
  • Able to sit or stand for extended periods and lift up to 25 pounds.
  • Core general management competencies customary for this role.

How you'll succeed

  • Bring energy to a fast-paced, industry-leading, and growing organization.
  • Treat others with dignity and respect; serve Members and teammates with humility and a positive outlook.
  • Favor action and follow-through while communicating clearly and courteously with all stakeholders.
  • Uphold policies and procedures, continuously seeking smarter ways to work.
  • Demonstrate resilience and problem-solving that turns challenges into progress.
  • Provide responsive service to teammates and Members; go the extra mile.
  • Analyze data to inform sound, timely decisions grounded in business understanding.
  • Build high-performing teams and invest in teammates’ professional development.
  • Plan, organize, and manage people and processes effectively.
  • Show an unwavering commitment to learning and growth; act with integrity and welcome feedback.
  • Coach through change and lead with positivity.
