Job Summary
The intern will experiment with using Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML) to assist COE in selecting appropriate AI/ML models from publicly available databases and hosting them on CUBEnet-a regional ocean observing network. The intern will experiment with different AI/ML models using a variety of datasets such as oceanographic, atmospheric, acoustic, and optical data collected by data buoys, satellites, and uncrewed marine systems.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
- Host the AI/ML models on COE server and run models to output the model results on a custom-built web interface
- Expected to explore the application of generative AI for purposes of ocean science data analysis with a focus on tracking accuracy and utility of AI tools and prompts
- Learn about the end-to-end AI/ML model implementation pipelines
- Expected to gain skills in applying AI/ML application to the ocean science data and gain practical experience to implement AI/ML in real world
- Expected to work independently to some extent, but the mentor will be available for guidance whenever it is needed
- Performs other duties as assigned.
