Job Duties & Responsibilities
- Install AC and DC electrical power distribution systems aboard marine vessels.
- Install and service switchboards, lighting systems, generators, and related marine electrical equipment.
- Install and work with navigation and communication equipment as required.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot electrical faults using multimeters, clamp meters, circuit testers, and other electrical diagnostic equipment.
- Inspect wiring, terminals, connections, and electrical components for damage, corrosion, vibration-related issues, and potential failures.
- Perform preventative and corrective electrical maintenance.
- Read and interpret complex electrical schematics, blueprints, and wiring diagrams.
- Work with electrical systems ranging from 12V/24V DC to 480V three-phase AC.
- Follow all shipyard safety requirements and electrical procedures.
- Perform work in confined spaces, tight areas, and varying indoor/outdoor environments.
Key Requirements
- Minimum 5 years of hands-on electrical experience required.
- Marine, shipyard, commercial vessel, or similar industrial electrical experience strongly preferred.
- Strong knowledge of both AC and DC electrical systems.
- Experience with systems ranging from 12V/24V DC through 480V three-phase AC.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, blueprints, and wiring diagrams.
- Experience using multimeters, clamp meters, circuit testers, and related diagnostic equipment.
- Must be comfortable working in a shipyard environment.
- Must be able to work in hot and cold conditions and confined/tight spaces.
- Must be comfortable climbing ladders and working aboard or around marine vessels.
Shifts:
- Monday to Friday 7:30 AM to 3:30 PM
- Some Saturdays
