Company Description: SeaView Geophysical is a Michigan-based small business specializing in underwater robotics and marine operations for geophysical applications. The company designs and deploys custom platforms that utilize the GapEOD Marine UltraTEM IV Advanced Geophysical Classification system to detect and classify Munitions and Explosives of Concern (MEC). As a pioneer in shallow-water Underwater Advanced Geophysical Classification (UWAGC), SeaView Geophysical works on technically challenging, mission-focused projects in marine environments. Team members contribute to advancing safety and data quality in underwater surveys while working with cutting-edge marine electronics and instrumentation.
\nRole Description: The Marine Electronic Technician is a full-time, on-site role based in Dexter, MI, with up to 150 days/year of field work.
\nThis position is broken into two main task types: Preparation and Deployment
\nPreparation: The employee is responsible for assembling, installing, testing, and maintaining marine electronic systems used in underwater robotics and geophysical survey platforms. Day-to-day tasks include wiring and soldering electronic components, diagnosing and troubleshooting sensors and control systems, and conducting routine maintenance and repairs on field equipment. The technician will assist with system integration, support equipment mobilization and demobilization for marine operations, and help document configurations, test results, and maintenance activities. Collaboration with engineers and field staff to prepare systems for deployment and ensure reliable performance in demanding marine environments is a key part of the role.
\nField Deployment: For up to 150 days per year (3-week rotations), the employee will take the prepared equipment into the field to support marine geophysical data collection operations. Operations include the deployment and operation of electromagnetic towed arrays, subsea robotic crawlers, subsea sensor packages, and Remotely Operated Vehicles, as well as the operation of hydrographic survey and geophysical data acquisition software and equipment. As a member of a field team, the employee will be responsible for integrating subsea sensors, the in-field diagnosis and repair of faults, supporting the day-to-day running of SeaView Geophysical's survey vessels, inventory and management of spares, and
