Reports to: Electronics Supervisor
The Marine Electronics Technician’s responsibility is to perform the duties below on a regular basis and meet customer satisfaction standards as well as company sales and safety requirements. The position requires the team member to work 5 days per week and 8 hours per day according to the schedule agreed upon with your manager. Marina operating hours range from 5:30 a.m. - 8:00 p.m. and seasonal schedule changes may take place at management discretion.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Diagnose and repair 110V gensets, 110/240V shore power, 12V and battery bank systems
- Diagnose and repair electronic systems, verify with NMEA and ABYC standards
- Install marine electronics such as radios, depth finders, GPS, autopilots, radar equipment, etc.
- Install other non-electronic systems as necessary
- Programming and customizing electronic systems with the customer
- Wire routing and component installation for function and appearance
- Identify potential work to the Electronics Supervisor
- Perform minor woodworking on an as-needed basis with installation of equipment
- Perform mechanical and electrical repairs on boat equipment
- Boat rigging in seasonal demand
- Demonstrate good judgment and problem-solving skills and abilities
- Perform other duties as assigned or apparent
Minimum Qualifications and Requirements:
- Act with the highest level of integrity and maintain a positive attitude
- High school diploma required
- 4 years of experience in the performance of electrical repair and installation
- Thorough working knowledge of 12-volt and 110 –volt electrical systems
- Ability to read, understand, and assess electrical wiring diagrams/schematics
- Ability to use electrical test instruments
- Must provide his/her personal electrician tools and test equipment
- Must be able to meet the physical requirements of the job
- Must be able to complete assigned work in an efficient and timely manner
- Strong work ethic and personal commitment
- Ability to work in a team environment to achieve team, department, and company goals
- Ability to be a self-starter and work independently
- Must have strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize work
- Experience with Simrad, Garmin, Raymarine, NMEA, etc. a plus, but not required
- Experience in fields such as PLC’s, I/O protocols, FANUC, Allen Bradley, etc. also welcome to apply
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift and carry up to 100 lbs
- Ability to work comfortably around water
- Ability to work in tight spaces
- Ability to work at heights of up to 30 feet
