Job Title: Marine Service Technician

About:

Propulsion Systems, Inc. is a repair Facility located in South Seattle. We provide Field Service Engineers & Manufacturing for Controllable Pitch Propellers, Thrusters, PTO's, Shaft Brakes, Electronic and Pneumatic Controls for marine applications.

Salary/Compensation:

$25 - $50 an hour (Dependent on experience level)

Duties and Responsibilities:

·        Performing routine maintenance, inspections, and testing of engines, propellers, and steering mechanisms equipment

·        Diagnosing and repairing mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems on marine vessels

·        Installing and servicing propulsion, electrical, and hydraulic systems on marine vessels

·        Constructing or replacing parts using technical drawings, hand tools, and power tools

·        Documenting repairs, parts used, and time spent on service jobs

·        Liaising with supervisors, vendors, and clients to coordinate service tasks

Qualifications:

·        Education: High school diploma or equivalent.

·        Practical experience with marine tools, equipment, and repair techniques is advantageous.

·        Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and schematics

·        Conduct inspections on marine components both in place and when removed

·        Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and self-discipline

·        Good hand-eye coordination and ability to follow written and verbal instructions

·        Physical stamina to lift heavy loads and work in varying positions for extended periods

·        Exposed to hazards/risks that require body protection (gloves, pants, steel toes, sleeves, safety glasses, hard hats, etc)


Requirements:

·        Keeping detailed records of repair and maintenance work

·        Clear written and verbal communication skills, Patience, Eye for details

·        Willingness to work in challenging weather conditions and irregular and long hours

·        Travel to different job sites, sometimes on short notice

·        Work independently or as part of a small team

·        Valid driver’s license and the ability to obtain TWIC, passport, or other security clearances

·        Ensuring compliance with safety regulations
