    • Be skilled in marine electrical installation, cable routing, wire termination, testing, troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance of shipboard electrical systems.
    • Be skilled in reading and interpreting electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, ship construction drawings, and technical manuals.
    • Educate students using proper installation techniques, electrical safety practices, testing procedures, and troubleshooting methods.
    • Supervise and instruct students as they practice in electrical environments, providing real-time feedback to improve technical skills and safety awareness.
    • Remain current with industry technology, electrical codes, shipbuilding standards, equipment, techniques, and software.
    • Ensure that equipment is operational, troubleshooting issues and coordinating with technical support to maintain seamless instruction.
    • Maintain accurate records of student attendance and performance.
    • Exhibit a high degree of skill, precision, and attention to detail.
    • Have excellent working knowledge of electrical hand tools, power tools, cable installation equipment, testing instruments, and materials essential to marine electrical work.
    • Maintain all documentation for training as required by AccelerateMS guidelines, MGCCC policies and procedures, and other governmental agencies and organizations.
    • Perform duties independently and exercise a high degree of autonomy.
    • Must be able to lift 50 pounds.
    • Must be able to work in outdoor temperatures and industrial environments.
    • Perform other duties as assigned by the Associate Vice President of Workforce Solutions or college administration.

    Job Description

    The incumbent is responsible for preparing and teaching a full range of marine electrical installation techniques, including electrical theory, cable routing, wire termination, electrical testing, troubleshooting, repair, and preventive maintenance to non-credit workforce students/trainees as needed. The incumbent will report to a Workforce Project Director.

    Mandatory Qualifications

    (M1) Minimum three years' full-time experience in marine electrical installation, maintenance, or repair.

    (M2) Demonstrated competencies in reading electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and ship construction drawings.

    (M3) Proficient with electrical testing equipment and capable of operating and maintaining all marine electrical lab equipment.

    (M4) Knowledge of electrical safety procedures, lockout/tagout (LOTO), and applicable industry standards.

    (M5) Demeanor, training, and skills necessary to provide effective instruction to a diverse group of individuals with varying degrees of previous experience.

    (M6) Proficient with computer and communication skills.

    Desirable Qualifications

    (D1) Relevant Associate's degree in Electrical Technology, Industrial Technology, Technical Education, or related field.

    (D2) Experience working in shipbuilding.

    (D3) Experience working at a community college.
