    Job Description

What your day could look like

You start by mapping out a learning plan for new and experienced welders who support our shipyard operations. You gather technical updates from engineers and field teams, choose the most effective delivery methods, and turn that insight into course content, training materials, and visual aids. In the afternoon, you facilitate a hands-on session, observe performance, and capture real-time feedback. You close the day by refining lesson plans, updating criteria to measure training impact, and coordinating future sessions—sometimes partnering with other technical trainers to go deeper on specialty topics.

    Role focus

    • Design, build, and coordinate in-house training for field support personnel and customers.
    • Research and synthesize the information needed to create accurate, up-to-date curriculum.
    • Develop course content, select instructional methodologies, and produce supporting training aids.
    • Lead training sessions and establish clear metrics to evaluate effectiveness.
    • Collaborate with subject-matter trainers as needed for specialized instruction.
    • Continuously revise lessons to align with new requirements and evolving technical data.

    Qualifications you’ll need

    • Bachelor's degree and 6 years of applicable, progressive professional and/or supervisory experience; or
    • Master's degree and 4 years of relevant experience.

Alternative paths that meet minimum qualifications

    • Apprentice School graduate
    • Navy Nuclear Power School (NNPS) graduate
    • Associate's degree or other formal 2-year program and 2 years of relevant exempt experience or 4 years of relevant non-exempt experience
    • Military Paygrade E-5 or above military experience
    • High School/GED and 4 years combined of Manufacturing, Shipbuilding, Trades, Military experience or other relevant exempt experience
    • High School/GED and 8 years combined of Manufacturing, Shipbuilding, Trades, Military experience or other relevant non-exempt experience

    Bonus

    • Welding background
