Position: Senior Manager, Market Access Strategy 
Client Domain: Pharmaceutical/Healthcare
Location: Boston, MA (Hybrid – 3 days per week onsite)
*Must be local
Duration: 5+ months, with potential for extension
Rate: $68-78/hour W2 - depending on experience

Position Summary

Our client is seeking an experienced Senior Manager, Market Access Strategy to support the development and execution of U.S. market access strategies for a portfolio of therapies for rare diseases, including both marketed products and pipeline assets. This individual will play a key role in driving patient access by developing payer-focused strategies, communicating clinical and economic value, and collaborating across commercial, medical, and market access functions.

This highly cross-functional role partners with Brand Marketing, Medical Affairs, Health Economics & Outcomes Research (HEOR), Public Affairs, Payer Account Management, and Field Market Access teams to support product launches, lifecycle management, and long-term market access objectives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute U.S. market access strategies and tactical plans supporting new product launches and lifecycle management initiatives.
  • Create strategies to achieve and maintain broad payer access and favorable reimbursement across commercial and government payer channels.
  • Lead initiatives that demonstrate the clinical, economic, and societal value of therapies to payers, formulary decision-makers, treatment centers, and other key stakeholders.
  • Partner cross-functionally to develop compelling payer value propositions and evidence-based messaging.
  • Support the development and refinement of payer value stories tailored to multiple customer segments.
  • Monitor changes in the healthcare and reimbursement landscape, identifying opportunities and risks that may impact market access.
  • Lead strategic initiatives that strengthen organizational capabilities and support readiness for an evolving payer environment.
  • Collaborate with Field Market Access teams on customer segmentation, account planning, training initiatives, and development of customer-facing resources.
  • Manage external agencies and vendors, ensuring projects are delivered on schedule, within budget, and aligned with business objectives.
  • Partner with internal stakeholders to ensure alignment across commercial, medical, and market access strategies.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree (MBA, MPH, PharmD, or other relevant graduate degree) preferred.
  • Significant experience in pharmaceutical or biotechnology market access, payer marketing, reimbursement, or related commercial strategy roles.
  • Experience supporting specialty or rare disease products; cystic fibrosis experience is highly preferred.
  • Strong understanding of the U.S. healthcare system, payer landscape, reimbursement processes, and market access strategy.
  • Experience working cross-functionally with Commercial, Medical Affairs, HEOR, and Market Access organizations.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop payer value propositions and translate clinical and economic evidence into strategic messaging.
  • Strong project management, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Experience managing external vendors and agency partners is preferred.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
