Responsibilities
Full responsibility for the profit/loss of the market's profit center, including all service lines.
Build team-oriented relationships with geotechnical, construction materials testing, environmental and facilities department leaders and group leaders to provide leadership, oversight, and mentoring support in seeking out business opportunities for the assigned major market.
Branch Managers and Practice Leaders within the market will report directly to the Market Leader.
Monitor and Track profit center finances (including overall profit/loss, accounts receivable), market strategies (proposal generation, rates), overall market and individual market productivity, standardization, and training.
Evaluate market opportunities, trends, and successes in other major markets and regions.
Apply best management practices within the market where appropriate.
Provide strategic direction and oversight of Branch Managers, Group Leaders, Market Directors and Practice Leaders.
Maintain weekly contact with the Branch Managers and Group Leaders to discuss the importance of productivity management, business development and key performance indicators at the location/group level.
Maintain monthly contact with the Branch Managers, Group Leaders and staff to discuss the importance of productivity management and business development at the Market/Branch/Location/Group level.
Take the lead and coordinate market business development opportunities.
Provide strategic and tactical direction to market business development staff.
Provide strategic direction to assigned regional marketing personnel.
Seek project leads and business development opportunities across the market.
Actively participate in trade associations, association conferences and seek out opportunities, including regional based as well as national contract agreements.
Oversee and participate in market segmentation program/groups to provide leadership in their efforts.
Work closely with Branch Managers/Group Leaders and market Business Development Managers to track opportunities.
Promote team work and the company-wide resources available.
Respond and assist Branch Managers and Group Leaders with finding resources from the market location and region to complete projects as well as support strategic pursuits.
Support Practice Leaders in the evaluation of complex/strategic scopes of work and support in the assignment of the appropriate personnel to complete the tasks/deliverables.
Support the coordination of resources to complete work.
Support the Practice Leaders in ensuring that Proposals and SOQs are submitted on time.
With support of the Branch Managers, Group Leaders and Practice Leaders, monitor and review the current and projected workloads to ensure that staff levels are appropriate at each location, including the number of staff, experience level and technical knowledge.
Lead the recruitment of Key and Strategic Professionals
Monitor the management and training of key employees
Managerial and administrative duties required for developing and maximizing growth in a major market.
Responsible for generating strategies and engaging staff in getting the firm's name out in the marketplace
Qualifications
Qualifications & Skills
BS or MS in Civil Engineering from an ABET accredited college/university with a preferred concentration in geotechnical engineering
15+ years of technical and managerial experience.
Must have a PE license or be capable of obtaining local licensure within six months following the date of hire.
If driving for, or on behalf of, any ECS subsidiary, a valid driver's license is required.
Demonstrated strong marketing and business development abilities
Proven successful P&L responsibility
Strong leadership skills
Excellent decision-making skills
Team player that embraces team building
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Self-starter with strong marketing and business development skills,
A 'roll-up-your-sleeve' mentality to get things done.
Ability to both bring in and oversee work.
The expected pay range for this role and location is $170k/year. The final agreed-upon compensation will be determined based on specific location and other individual qualifications.
