    Under the guidance of the Market Education Director, the Nurse Extern Program Manager collaborates with facility/market leadership and staff across departments to hire and facilitate training for Nurse Externs and non-nursing personnel as indicated or requested. The manager acts as a key resource in the hiring and placement of externs. The manager collaborates with Recruiting, Academic partners, and leaders to assure ongoing succession planning, placement in hard to fill positions, completion of orientation and residency programs, and ongoing communication with nurse externs and leadership in the Palm Beach Market and other facilities as requested. The manager implements a comprehensive immersion program to develop nurse externs to facilitate ongoing cohorts of externs to fill nursing positions. Other services may include, but are not limited to process, performance and service-delivery consultation and contributions to the organization through councils, committees and workgroups.

    Qualifications

    Education:

    • BSN must be obtained within 1 year of employment

    Experience:

    • 2 years nursing experience in acute care setting
    • Computer literacy including Microsoft Office products

    License

    • REGISTERED NURSE

    Certification

    • AHA BLS at hire.

    St. Marys Medical Center (SMMC), part of the Palm Beach Health Network, is a 420-bed acute care hospital in West Palm Beach. The hospital has been serving Palm Beach County and the Treasure Coast for more than 80 years.SMMC is a Level 1 Trauma Center, a state-designated Pediatric Trauma Referral Center, certified Comprehensive Stoke Center, and has a level III NICU. Pediatric services are provided at the Palm Beach Childrens Hospital at St. Marys Medical Center, which is the only dedicated childrens hospital between Ft. Lauderdale and Orlando.
