    Job Description

Your primary responsibility as a Product Manager on the Reputation Marketing & Insights (RMI) team will be to work with the product lead on the strategy, roadmap, and delivery of Amazon"s content testing research program as a product, with a secondary role owning foundational and go-to-market messaging research and research product development. You will define what this research product measures, how insights are delivered to and adopted by stakeholders, and how the program evolves to meet changing business needs. You own the research capability and its output - the methodology, insights pipeline, and decision-making guidance it produces - while deploying and managing research vendors and third-party testing platforms (such as Swayable) as tooling rather than owning the technology itself.

The work will challenge you to be resourceful, think big while staying connected to the details, drive cross-functional alignment, and embrace a high degree of change and ambiguity at speed. The scope and scale of what we strive to achieve is immense, but it is also meaningful and energizing. This is an individual contributor role.

The right candidate possesses endless curiosity and passion for understanding perceptions and what drives them. You have proficiency in diving deep into large amounts of data and combining multiple data points to translate research into actionable insights and recommendations. You have a track record of making smart trade-offs, building alignment across teams with competing priorities, and driving crisp decisions when information is incomplete. You are an excellent communicator who can provide status updates, escalate issues, and align stakeholders through written documents, presentations, and other internal communication channels. You are a creative problem-solver who seeks to deeply understand business and communications strategy so you can shape research that informs stakeholder decision-making and messaging tactics.

    Key Job Responsibilities

    • Partner with the product lead on the product strategy and roadmap for the content testing research program - determining what to measure, how to deliver insights, and what to test next
    • Own the end-to-end lifecycle of the content testing offering - from stakeholder management, input gathering, and research design through delivery, adoption measurement, and iteration
    • Own the content testing intake queue as a product backlog, prioritizing and making smart trade-offs between depth and speed when demand exceeds capacity
    • Own the analytic output and reporting standards that enable stakeholders to make go/no-go decisions with confidence; interpret results into clear, timely guidance
    • Own the content testing insights repository and periodic meta-analyses that surface cross-test-round learnings and scale them across the RMI team and broader CCR stakeholders
    • Define success metrics that distinguish outputs (tests delivered) from outcomes (stakeholder adoption, measurable improvements in creative and campaign performance)
    • Drive adoption of the program across CCR and partner teams; educate internal teams on best practices for content testing
    • In partnership with product manager, continuously simplify and improve the research product: intake processes, reporting templates, tracking systems, and documentation standards

    Foundational & Go-to-Market Research (approximately 40%)

    • Define and own the product roadmap for foundational and go-to-market messaging research (on key topics) end-to-end - from requirements and brief development through vendor management, analysis, stakeholder readouts, and iteration - to guide the messages used in earned, owned, and paid campaigns
    • Execute foundational qualitative and quantitative research, driving actionable insights from that
    • Deeply understand the needs of internal customers through direct engagement - observing how they use insights and identifying gaps between what they request and what they need
    • Shape strategic planning and messaging architecture documents that inform paid and owned media campaigns
    • Evaluate and deploy AI capabilities to accelerate research workflows, insight generation, and delivery
    • Identify opportunities to simplify research processes, eliminate unnecessary complexity, and improve how insights reach decision-makers
    • Challenge existing research methodologies and assumptions; propose new approaches when the evidence warrants it
    • Scale learnings across CCR and the broader Amazon marketing and communications community, and incorporate learnings from other research functions including reputation-tracking, policy, and product and marketing research

    About Company

At Amazon, we don’t wait for the next big idea to present itself. We envision the shape of impossible things and then we boldly make them reality. So far, this mindset has helped us achieve some incredible things. Let’s build new systems, challenge the status quo, and design the world we want to live in. We believe the work you do here will be the best work of your life.

Wherever you are in your career exploration, Amazon likely has an opportunity for you. Our research scientists and engineers shape the future of natural language understanding with Alexa. Fulfillment center associates around the globe send customer orders from our warehouses to doorsteps. Product managers set feature requirements, strategy, and marketing messages for brand new customer experiences. And as we grow, we’ll add jobs that haven’t been invented yet.

    It’s Always Day 1
At Amazon, it’s always “Day 1.” Now, what does this mean and why does it matter? It means that our approach remains the same as it was on Amazon’s very first day – to make smart, fast decisions, stay nimble, invent, and stay focused on delighting our customers. In our 2016 shareholder letter, Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos shared his thoughts on how to keep up a Day 1 company mindset. “Staying in Day 1 requires you to experiment patiently, accept failures, plant seeds, protect saplings, and double down when you see customer delight,” he wrote. “A customer-obsessed culture best creates the conditions where all of that can happen.” You can read the full letter here

    Our Leadership Principles
Our Leadership Principles help us keep a Day 1 mentality. They aren’t just a pretty inspirational wall hanging. Amazonians use them, every day, whether they’re discussing ideas for new projects, deciding on the best solution for a customer’s problem, or interviewing candidates.
