Position Details
Position Summary
The Michigan Association of Administrators of Special Education (MAASE) is seeking a full-time Marketing and Communications Manager to lead the organization's marketing, communications, and brand management efforts. This is a new position.
This position will support both MAASE's internal communications and the growth of its consulting, professional learning, membership, events, and fee-for-service initiatives. The Manager will help implement MAASE's strategic plan by developing coordinated marketing strategies, creating compelling content, managing digital platforms, and supporting the organization's go-to-market efforts.
This is a hands-on position for someone who can think strategically, manage multiple projects, and create polished communications across a variety of platforms.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Marketing Strategy and Campaigns
- Develop and implement marketing plans for MAASE programs, services, events, membership, consulting, and strategic initiatives.
- Support go-to-market planning for new and existing services, including audience identification, messaging, campaign timelines, and promotional strategies.
- Collaborate with staff, consultants, committees, and partners to align marketing efforts with organizational priorities.
- Maintain an organization-wide marketing and communications calendar.
- Track campaign results and recommend improvements.
Content, Brand, and Design
- Write, edit, and produce content for newsletters, email campaigns, websites, social media, presentations, publications, and promotional materials.
- Maintain a consistent organizational voice, visual identity, and brand across programs and platforms.
- Create or coordinate logos, graphics, one-pagers, brochures, prospectuses, slide decks, event materials, and other branded resources.
- Gather and share stories, testimonials, outcomes, and examples that demonstrate MAASE's impact.
- Coordinate with printers, designers, photographers, videographers, and other vendors as needed.
Website, Email, and Social Media
- Create and update webpages and landing pages for programs, events, membership, consulting services, and organizational initiatives (Novi is our website platform and AMS)
- Manage newsletters, email campaigns, audience lists, and engagement reporting.
- Develop, schedule, and monitor social media content across organizational platforms, working cooperatively with the Manager of Events and Community Engagement.
- Use website, email, and social media analytics to improve content and engagement.
Program, Event, and Membership Marketing
- Develop promotional plans and materials for conferences, professional learning, consulting services, and other organizational offerings.
- Coordinate pre-event, onsite, and post-event communications in partnership with the Manager of Events and Community Engagement.
- Support the design and content of event platforms, registration pages, presenter and exhibitor materials, and participant communications.
- Develop campaigns supporting membership recruitment, engagement, retention, and renewal.
- Support sponsorship, partnership, and non-dues revenue marketing.
Consulting and Business Development Support
- Create marketing tools that clearly communicate MAASE's consulting services, expertise, and value.
- Develop service descriptions, capability statements, presentations, case studies, landing pages, and outreach campaigns.
- Support lead generation and follow-up by creating organized marketing materials and communication processes.
- Collaborate with leadership and consultants to package and promote new services.
Systems and Project Management
- Develop and maintain templates, workflows, standard operating procedures, content calendars, and digital asset libraries.
- Manage multiple projects, deadlines, and stakeholders using Asana and other organizational tools.
- Maintain organized files and documentation for recurring marketing and communications work.
- Use artificial intelligence and automation tools responsibly to improve efficiency and quality.
- Participate in staff meetings, planning sessions, events, and other organizational activities.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, public relations, journalism, business, graphic design, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
- At least three years of experience in marketing, communications, public relations, digital engagement, or a related field.
- Strong writing, editing, proofreading, and content-development skills.
- Experience creating marketing materials for websites, email, social media, publications, and presentations.
- Experience with website content management systems, email marketing platforms, and social media management.
- Proficiency with Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, or comparable design tools.
- Strong project management, organization, and time management skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently in a primarily remote environment.
- Ability to travel within Michigan occasionally and provide onsite support for designated events.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with a nonprofit, association, education organization, consulting firm, or professional-services organization.
- Experience marketing events, memberships, professional learning, consulting services, or fee-for-service programs.
- Familiarity with analytics, search engine optimization, audience segmentation, customer-relationship management, or marketing automation.
- Experience using Asana, Google Workspace, Constant Contact, and artificial intelligence tools.
- Familiarity with Michigan education or special education.
Work Environment
Primarily remote with occasional onsite support for events in Lansing, Traverse City, and other Michigan locations (negotiable).
Standard virtual office hours with some flexibility around event schedules.
Compensation
Salary: $56,000-78,000, based on experience
Employment Type: Full-time, 40 hours per week (W-2)
Work Schedule
- Standard hours: 8:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m. with a one-hour lunch
- Flexibility is often available while maintaining an eight-hour workday
- Flexibility around meetings, travel, events, and scheduling as needed
