JOB DESCRIPTION: MDTC MARKETING COMMUNICATIONS SPECIALIST

SALARY SCHEDULE: SCHEDULE TCBM

DEPARTMENT: MID-DEL TECHNOLOGY CENTER

FLSA STATUS: EXEMPT

HOURS: 7:30-4:00 PM and 235 Day contract. (Start date on or after July 1, 2026)

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Digital Communications Specialist works collaboratively under the direction of the Marketing Director to support Mid-Del Technology Center's marketing and communications efforts through social media management, content creation, and visual storytelling. This position develops and shares content that promotes MDTC programs, student success, events, partnerships, and organizational initiatives across multiple communication channels while ensuring all work aligns with the established marketing direction, strategy, and goals set by the Marketing Director.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Graphic Design, or a related field preferred.
  • Minimum of three years of professional content creation and digital marketing experience.
  • Knowledge of CareerTech preferred.
  • Experience managing social media platforms and creating engaging digital content.
  • Excellent writing, editing, interpersonal, and communication skills, with a commitment to delivering exceptional customer service and creating positive first impressions.
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite or similar design software, with the ability to update marketing materials, create basic graphics, and produce/edit basic photography and video content.
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple projects while working independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Committed to fostering a collaborative and supportive work environment by building effective relationships with leadership, administrative, and instructional staff.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Manage social media content creation, scheduling, posting, and engagement across MDTC platforms.
  • Develop written content for marketing communications, including posts, newsletters, and storytelling content.
  • Create and update basic graphic design materials using templates and brand standards.
  • Capture and edit photography and short-form video content for promotional use.
  • Support event marketing, promotion, and coverage including campus and community events.
  • Assist with website updates and content management within CMS platforms.
  • Draft press releases and communications materials for review and distribution.
  • Collaborate with the Marketing Director to ensure all content aligns with established strategy and branding.
  • Track and analyze marketing and communications performance metrics to evaluate effectiveness and inform content and engagement strategies in collaboration with the Marketing Director.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

LANGUAGE AND GRAMMAR SKILLS:

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence and memos. Ability to compose and write grammatically correct correspondence and memos.

REASONING ABILITY:

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, schedule form, or blueprint form.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to fume or airborne particles. The employee frequently works in high, precarious places and in outside weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment will vary from somewhat loud to extremely loud.

To ensure continuity of services, a different work location may be necessary in the event of a health crisis or disruptive situation that requires the closing of school and/or office buildings. An employee's eligibility for a varied work location will be determined by the superintendent of schools. Expectations and guidelines for this change will be distributed by the employee's supervisor, based on his/her role and responsibilities.

Some travel within the district service area may be required.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

This position does not have supervisory responsibilities but may provide informal guidance or

support to student workers or interns as assigned.
