Our client, a Health Insurance company, is looking for a Marketing Assistant/Analyst 1 for their Oakland, CA/Hybrid location.
Responsibilities:
Build, maintain, and quality-check recurring marketing performance reports and Excel/Power BI dashboards.
Analyze campaign, lead, application, enrollment, conversion, and cost performance for Medicare and Individual & Family Plan acquisition marketing.
Reconcile data across marketing and operational sources; investigate discrepancies, missing data, broken feeds, and unexpected performance changes.
Respond to ad hoc business questions by defining the analytical approach, researching available data, documenting assumptions, and communicating findings clearly.
Maintain metric definitions, business rules, procedures, and reporting documentation.
Identify opportunities to standardize and automate manual reporting processes.
Collaborate with marketing strategists, analytics partners, agencies, sales, operations, and technology teams.
Learn unfamiliar systems and processes, ask targeted questions, and independently work toward answers with appropriate guidance.
Requirements:
Advanced Excel and data analysis skills, including PivotTables, XLOOKUP/VLOOKUP, formulas, data cleaning, reconciliation, and quality checks.
Strong analytical thinking and structured problem solving; able to investigate ambiguous questions, test assumptions, and identify root causes.
Learning agility, initiative, and clear communication; able to learn new systems, independently research answers, and explain findings to non-technical partners.
Primarily marketing communications, event, brand, social media, or project-coordination experience with little evidence of hands-on quantitative analysis; no demonstrated Excel proficiency; vague claims of dashboard or analytics work without clear ownership, methods, or outcomes; application materials showing poor attention to detail.
Bachelor's degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Economics, Business Analytics, Data Science, Engineering, Computer Science, Operations Research, Marketing Analytics, or another quantitative field.
Equivalent relevant education and analytical experience may be considered.
