The firm is seeking a Marketing & Business Development Manager to lead the Consumer sector. This individual will work closely with the global and local M&BD teams, along with the global Sector Head, leadership team, and key lawyers to develop and execute a comprehensive marketing and business development strategy that drives client engagement, strengthens market position in the sector and supports its long‑term growth.This is a hands‑on role that will involve ensuring a coordinated, structured approach to marketing campaigns and profile raising, client development, pitching, and knowledge development across the global sector and relevant practice areas.The successful candidate will have the ability to see the bigger picture and proactively connect the dots across the global sector, relevant practices and client initiatives. The ability to develop a deep understanding of the sector and to thrive in a fast‑paced, high‑performance environment, and to collaborate and communicate well with partners, lawyers and colleagues alike in a manner that builds trust and confidence is also paramount.Job DescriptionLeadershipCollaborate with sector leadership, M&BD team, and others to design and execute a global strategy that aligns with firm objectives and strengthens market position in the Consumer sector.Act as the M&BD lead expert for the global Consumer team.Pitching, Targeting & New Business GenerationLead pitch strategy for the sector, aligning with the sales transformation plan and global pitch coordination.Develop and manage responses to RFPs, pitches and proposals tailored to client needs.Profile Raising & Marketing CampaignsLead efforts to enhance the firm's profile through targeted campaigns, thought leadership, events and sponsorships.Conceptualize and support client seminars, webinars and other marketing events, managing materials, day‑of logistics and follow‑up reporting.Oversee directory submissions for relevant rankings and publications.Foster relationships with industry associations, leveraging sponsorships to drive client engagement.Evaluate, coordinate and execute sponsorships and negotiate agreements to ensure the firm maximizes return on its investment.Produce, manage and support seminars, receptions and other marketing‑oriented events and activities, including event promotion, development of invitations and other client communications, concept development and vendor selection.Collaborate with the PR team to implement profile‑raising strategies for the sector and individual partners.Ensure effective internal reporting and communication of M&BD activities, supporting management reporting.Business & Client DevelopmentSupport the team on the portfolio of clients within the sector, monitoring and analysing client financial performance and internal review meetings.Conduct client feedback and support as client account manager for key clients.Wider M&BD ProjectsContribute to broader M&BD projects and assignments, as appropriate.Share best practices and processes across the global sector team.All members of the firm are expected and encouraged to participate in our Global Citizenship program.Specific duties or responsibilities may be reviewed from time to time to reflect changes in personnel and management structure, staff location, and services.QualificationsRequired SkillsExcellent level of strategic and commercial awareness with a proactive mindset to help our lawyers spot and capitalise on opportunities.Demonstrated people management capabilities.Pragmatic, diplomatic and resourceful, with the ability to adapt quickly to different situations and personalities.Proven ability to motivate and coach Business Team members to support the firm's M&BD goals.Demonstrated ability to think and act strategically and proactively.Ability to communicate effectively with tact and diplomacy, excellent writing skills and an exacting attention to detail in all work products.Strong organisational skills and an ability to prioritise and complete simultaneous projects with minimal supervision.Experience of working independently as well as within cross‑functional teams in a collaborative, professional environment.Ability to meet deadlines and work well under pressure.Education, Certifications and/or ExperienceSeven (7)+ years of relevant marketing & business development experience required, ideally in the legal or professional services industry.One (1)+ year of people management experience preferred.Established knowledge and experience of the Consumer industry preferred.Bachelor's degree preferred, and post‑graduate qualifications (e.g. MBA) advantageous.HoursCore hours are Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Must be flexible to work additional hours and travel occasionally. This position follows a hybrid schedule, with four days in the office and one day working remotely from home.In Washington, D.C., the expected base salary range for this role is $136,000 to $199,300 per year.In New York, the expected base salary range for this role is $145,400 to $213,200 per year.This range reflects a good‑faith estimate of pay at the time of posting; the actual compensation offered may vary depending on factors such as the candidate's qualifications. This position is eligible for additional forms of compensation, which may include annual discretionary bonuses.
