POSITION PURPOSE The Manager, Marketing & Business Development is responsible for leading the credit union’s marketing strategy and business development efforts to drive membership growth, deepen member relationships, and enhance brand awareness. This role oversees marketing campaigns, community engagement, and strategic partnerships while supporting organizational goals and delivering exceptional member value. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND BASIC DUTIES - Coordinates development and execution of Marketing Plan and department budget.
- Oversees the development, execution and proper use of our brand identity, ensuring a positive and consistent image for the Credit Union.
- Oversees the development and execution of the Credit Union’s intranet, website, email marketing and social media sites, ensuring that these channels are used effectively to generate business and that all content is accurate, functional and reflects our positive brand image.
- Directs marketing research to gain input regarding member needs, product development, technological needs, and competitive analysis.
- Effectively conducts cost/benefit analysis Return on Investment (ROI) for all marketing initiatives and campaigns.
MARKETING STRATEGY AND EXECUTION - Monitors and manages cost efficiency and effectiveness of department activities.
- Plans, organizes, and controls all activities of the department.
- Develops department goals, objectives, and systems.
- Utilizes Marketing Customer Information File (MCIF) and analyzes member and industry data to develop plans and strategies.
- Develops and implements short and long-term marketing plans.
- Prepares and maintains promotional budgets and reconciliations for marketing campaigns, events and all other marketing related expenses.
- Ensures that appropriate time frames and budgets are maintained for all marketing activities.
- Analyzes demographic information for select groups and identifies appropriate business opportunities and implements specialized marketing.
- Directs, coordinates, and/or participate in other special projects as requested.
BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT AND GROWTH - Identify and pursue opportunities to grow membership and expand product usage
- Build and maintain relationships with Select Employer Groups (SEGs), community organizations, and business partners
- Develop and execute outreach strategies, including events, workshops, and financial education initiatives
- Track and report on business development activities and results
INTERNAL CONTROLS - Ensures Credit Union compliance with all state and federal regulations pertaining to department.
- Develops, updates, and communicates department policies and procedures.
- Monitors member/customer service standards to ensure that they meet Credit Union guidelines.
- Complies with BSA and OFAC regulations within area of responsibility.
PUBLIC RELATIONS - Assist with planning member informational meetings, and any special activity meetings.
- Ensures that important Credit Union news is publicized within the industry and sponsor, through press releases, published articles and any other appropriate media and events.
- Directs other marketing research necessary to gain input regarding member needs, quality service standards, and the peer comparisons.
ADVERTISING - Plans, budgets, and directs all Credit Union promotional activities (i.e. newsletters, branch tv monitors, statement inserts, brochures, intranet, website, statement messages, on hold messages and promotions, etc.).
- Evaluates, monitors, and reports results for all marketing plans and promotional activities.
- Develops programs aimed at improving our service quality and sales culture.
- Analyzes membership data and develops target marketing strategies.
- Communicates to staff marketing initiatives, campaigns and promotions.
QUALIFICATIONS - Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business Administration, Communications, or related field (or equivalent experience)
- 5+ years of experience in marketing, business development, or related role (financial services or credit union experience preferred)
- Strong understanding of digital marketing, analytics, and campaign management
- Proven ability to build relationships and drive growth initiatives
- Excellent communication (verbal and written), presentation, and organizational skills
- Knowledge of credit union philosophy and member-focused service model preferred
- Minimum of two years supervisory experience.
- Demonstrated leadership and management skills.
- Ability to exercise discretion and independent judgment.
