Marketing & Communications Intern Job Title: Marketing & Communications Intern Department: Marketing & Communications Reports to: Director Marketing & Communication FLSA: Unpaid Division Marketing& Communications Location Onsite Business Unit Marketing & Communication Grade level NA Childrens Center of Wayne County (TCC)The Childrens Center, founded in 1929, provides evidence-based clinical therapy to children who deal with mental, behavioral, emotional, intellectual, and developmental health and educational challenges or may have experienced trauma. School + Community-Based Partnerships:We partner with K-12 schools and community organizations that serve children to provide clinical therapy, counseling, psychological services, and psychiatric evaluations, treatment & interventions. Child Welfare: In addition to the clinical therapy programs offered, The Childrens Center places children in licensed foster homes, and supports them throughout their time in the child welfare system. Child Well-being + Family Success:Weoperatean onsite family success center that promotes child-wellbeing and offers children and youth from allwalks of lifeto access relevant mentalhealth crisisprevention and child abuse and neglect prevention services. Advocacy: We champion child andyouth'swell-being for those experiencing poverty-related issues, those within the child welfare system, and those in need of evidence-based, clinical therapy. TCCs mission is to help children and families shape their own futures. If as many children as possible, and their families can easily access comprehensive, evidence-based, clinical therapy that is integrated into and supports their everyday lives then, children will experience an improved quality of life where they have a true sense of agency and empowerment in their lives. InternshipSummary The Marketing & Communications Intern supports the Marketing and Communications Managerin promoting The Childrens Centers mission and programs. This role offers hands-on experience in nonprofit marketing, social media management, event promotion, and digital content creation. The intern willassist with social media content, event coverage, photography, and the creation of marketing materials while gaining experience in nonprofit communications, branding, and community engagement. InternJobRequirement Valid State of Michigan Drivers License and Insurance (State ID acceptable for non- driving assignment)DHHS Clearance Results of Current TB TestProof of COVID Vaccination Preferred Skills Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office Familiarity with Microsoft Teams Experience with Canva or other graphic design tools Interest in social media marketing and digital communications Basic photography or content creation skills preferred Understanding of branding and brand guidelines is a plus Strong written and verbal communication skills Ability to work both independently and collaboratively Projects/Responsibilities During Placement Support the Marketing and Communications Director with day-to-day marketing task Assistin managing social media platforms, including drafting posts, scheduling content, and monitoring engagement Capture photos and short videos at events, programs, and organizational activities for use in marketing and storytelling Gather content from staff and programs to support social media, newsletters, and marketing campaigns Design event flyers, graphics, and promotional materials using Canva whilemaintainingbrand guidelines Assistwith promotional efforts for organizational events and initiatives Help create and organize content for newsletters and digital communications Support website update requests as needed Attend designated events to capture content and support program team Participate in marketing meetings and gain exposure to nonprofit communications and branding strategies Assistwithadditional marketing and communications projects as assigned Learning Opportunities During this internship, the intern will gain experience in: Nonprofit marketing and communications strategy Social media management and analytics Content creation and visual storytelling Brand management and marketing design Event promotion and community engagement Physical Requirement Administrative Work: Ability to prepare and inspect documents in hard copy or electronic format.Abilitytolerate exposure to computer screens and operate computer/keyboards and other equipment on a frequent and/or continuous basis. Communication: Ability to receive and exchange information and accurately and effectively communicate and converse with others. Provide Instruction: Ability to convey detailed instructions or ideas accurately. Lifting: Ability tolift up to 10 Lbs. Sitting: Ability to sit for extended periods of time.
