Our client, a globally recognized leader in workplace and furniture solutions, is seeking an experienced Marketing Communications Operations Leader to support enterprise marketing and communications for a 6-month contract position. This is an opportunity to step into a visible leadership role where operational strategy, process optimization, and cross-functional influence are critical to success.

This position is ideal for a marketing operations professional who thrives in complex enterprise environments and enjoys building structure, improving workflows, and driving measurable operational performance across integrated communications teams. 

Remote  - The organization offers a strong culture, a respected global brand, and the flexibility of remote work or onsite if desired in Grand Rapids, Michigan.


Position Overview

The Marketing Communications Operations Leader will help shape and optimize enterprise marketing and communications operations by improving workflows, governance, reporting, resource planning, and operational effectiveness. This individual will partner closely with marketing, analytics, technology, and business stakeholders to ensure communication initiatives are efficiently managed, scalable, and aligned with organizational priorities.

This role combines strategic leadership with hands-on operational execution and will play a key role in driving continuous improvement across marketing communications systems, reporting frameworks, and cross-functional collaboration models.


Responsibilities

  • Lead optimization initiatives across marketing and communications workflows, processes, and operating models
  • Develop and maintain SOPs, governance frameworks, and operational best practices
  • Create and manage dashboards, reporting tools, and performance measurement frameworks
  • Support integrated communications planning and audience-centered operational execution
  • Partner with marketing, analytics, technology, and business teams to improve collaboration and delivery effectiveness
  • Drive operational maturity through process improvement and change management initiatives
  • Oversee marketing operations governance forums and facilitate after-action reviews
  • Support resource planning, prioritization, and operational alignment across teams
  • Maintain data quality standards and governance processes across marketing systems
  • Evaluate and optimize marketing technology platforms and automation opportunities
  • Contribute to AI-assisted operational improvements and workflow efficiencies
  • Develop training materials and process documentation to support team adoption and scalability

Qualifications

  • Approximately 8-10 years of experience in marketing operations, communications operations, or related business operations roles
  • Strong background in process optimization, workflow management, and operational leadership
  • Experience building dashboards, reporting frameworks, and operational analytics
  • Demonstrated success working with senior leadership and enterprise stakeholders
  • Strong understanding of marketing operations and communications management practices
  • Experience collaborating cross-functionally with marketing, analytics, technology, and business teams
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced enterprise environment
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and stakeholder management skills
  • Experience with marketing technology platforms, reporting tools, and operational governance
  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Business, Communications, or a related field preferred

Preferred Experience

  • Experience supporting enterprise communications ecosystems
  • Knowledge of governance models, SLAs, and crisis communications frameworks
  • Experience implementing AI-assisted marketing operations solutions
  • Advanced analytics and operational reporting expertise
  • Background mentoring or developing operational teams
  • Experience within large global or enterprise organizations
  • Experience supporting integrated marketing and brand communications functions
