    Marketing & Communications VISTA

For over 62 years, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Greater Sacramento Area (BBBSGSA) has helped children and youth realize their full potential through the power of mentoring. Our mission is to create and support one-to-one mentoring relationships that ignite the power and promise of youth. Serving Sacramento, Placer, Yolo, El Dorado, Amador, Nevada, Sierra, Sutter, Yuba, and San Joaquin counties, BBBSGSA partners with schools, businesses, colleges, and nonprofits to expand mentoring opportunities for young people facing adversity. Through school-based, community-based, workplace, and career readiness programs, BBBSGSA helps youth strengthen academic engagement, develop social-emotional skills, build confidence, and prepare for careers. Many of the youth served by BBBSGSA come from low-income communities and face barriers including limited access to educational resources, career networks, workforce opportunities, and supportive adult relationships that can affect long-term economic mobility. By collaborating with schools, employers, and community partners, BBBSGSA expands access to educational opportunities, career exploration, workforce development experiences, and supportive relationships that contribute to stronger outcomes and economic mobility. The AmeriCorps VISTA member will strengthen BBBSGSA''s organizational capacity by enhancing marketing, communications, outreach, and partnership development efforts. This work will increase awareness of mentoring and career-readiness programs, engage more volunteers, and connect more youth and families with opportunities that support pathways out of poverty. As the need for youth mentoring continues to grow across the Greater Sacramento region, BBBSGSA remains committed to expanding its reach through partnerships and sustainable funding. By using data-informed practices and listening to stakeholders, BBBSGSA continues to strengthen its impact and ensure more young people achieve their full potential.
