Purpose of Position
The Marketing Coordinator collaborates with Marketing Managers and other team members to develop and execute integrated, strategic marketing communications that support student retention, enrollment, and the University of North Dakota's brand. The position will serve as the primary point of contact for communications directed to current students and will use a variety of systems, tools, and platforms to develop and deliver timely, effective messaging. The position will also partner with departments across UND to develop project timelines, coordinate details, and manage projects from initial development through implementation and final evaluation, ensuring successful and timely completion.
Duties & Responsibilities
Work with campus partners and Marketing & Creative Services (MCS) team members to develop branding, recruitment and retention campaigns by serving as a strategic partner and project manager. Tasks involved in fulfilling the above duties/responsibilities (include description for physical and mental/cognitive demands)
Work with MCS team members to help campus partners develop appropriate marketing strategies, tactics and best practices to meet strategic goals, including:
Assist in developing, implementing and documenting communication plans and project requests, including goals, audience(s), strategies/tactics, timeline, budget and evaluation.
Build strong working relationships with partners, vendors and other service providers.
Assist with post-evaluation of projects to measure effectiveness/ROI (as applicable) and provide suggestions for future improvements.
Serve as a project manager and main point of contact for assigned projects, including:
In-take project requests in timely manner.
Schedule necessary project "kick-off" meetings with campus partners and appropriate members of MCS team.
Schedule, set agendas, participate in and/or take notes for campus partner meetings as requested.
Build project plans in project management system (Asana) with project details, assignments and timelines.
Manage workflow processes using established project management systems and protocols.
Provide status updates to campus partners and MCS team members, making sure to keep both parties well-informed of projects' goals, expectations, timelines and deliverables.
Communicate frequently (daily if necessary) with campus partners to provide the highest quality of service and professionalism.
Work with campus partners to obtain content, feedback and approval of projects.
Collaborate with a team of professionals to assist with the coordination, production and implementation of branding, recruitment and retention messaging campaigns from the development stage to the final evaluation. Coordinate the development, production, distribution and evaluation of traditional and digital communications in an effective, efficient and timely manner.
Manage and assess effectiveness of UND's current student communications, including the Student Life Weekly newsletter, mobile app messaging and texting platform.
Write, edit and proofread student communications for various traditional and digital platforms.
Manage digital signage requests and the central feed for campus. Work with campus partners to update digital signs that do not meet standards.
As needed, assist with basic graphic design requests, such as resizing files or updating details on branded templates.
Use a variety of UND systems and tools to manage communications, including for emails, digital newsletters, website content, digital signs, texting, mobile app, surveys, etc.
Track and report applicable metrics for various communication platforms.
Coordinate direct mail campaigns, including list management and mail merges for monthly letter mailings and ad hoc campaigns.
Assist with the development of email communications and drip campaigns for prospective students in the University's Customer Relationship Management (CRM) systems.
Assist with CRM operational maintenance as directed.
Regularly review student communications to ensure accuracy, clarity, student-centered messaging and university branding. Provide feedback to Creative Team for enhanced effectiveness and creativity in design.
Follow UND Identity Guidelines and Brand Standards for design and writing.
Complete all assigned projects in an efficient, effective and timely manner.
Serve as a contributing member of the Division of Marketing & Communications and the University of North Dakota.
Support the workplace culture of the Division and University by modeling the professional conduct and values expected of all employees.
Contribute to a positive, collaborative workplace that challenges and energizes staff.
Communicate regularly and effectively with all members of the MCS team.
Attend and actively participate in staff meetings, retreats, planning sessions, trainings, and other meetings/events as required.
Update Performance Management Plan in a timely manner and provide ongoing feedback to supervisor.
Assist with implementing policies and processes to improve teamwork, communication, workflow and the execution of marketing efforts.
Volunteer for at least two campus events per year.
Be forward thinking and explore new opportunities for growth and improvement. Continually improve and advance personal leadership through professional development and continuing education.
Complete annual professional development goals by attending workshops, listening to webinars, reading best practices or other opportunities as they relate to marketing, especially related to higher education marketing. Serve on committees and assist with University-wide initiatives on an "as requested" basis.
Complete other duties as assigned.
