The marketing coordinator is a full-time, exempt position that works with all administrative staff and faculty departments. The position directly reports to the vice president for marketing and communications in the Office of Marketing and Communications. OMC oversees the college’s marketing and communications strategies and is responsible for all aspects of creative services and photography; digital messaging (web, video and social media); features and publications; internal, external and crisis communications; marketing and special project.

Hours of work performance are approximately 40 hours/week. Depending on activities and special events, evening and weekend hours may be required at times; otherwise, the normal work schedule is 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

The marketing coordinator is responsible for promotion of the Wofford College mission, core values and brand as well as the strategic coordination and implementation of all non-athletics college marketing. The marketing coordinator will be expected to:

  • Develop, organize and schedule college marketing plans, with emphasis on enrollment, retention and philanthropy + engagement.
  • Stay current on enrollment trends and conduct research to inform marketing initiatives.
  • In collaboration with the OMC projects manager, coordinate marketing projects with members of Team OMC and campus stakeholders to ensure successful and timely completion of marketing initiatives.
  • Proactively develop solutions to marketing challenges across campus.
  • Assist with video, photography, content creation, SEO/GEO, social media and digital ad planning and execution as it relates to marketing initiatives.
  • Serve as a liaison for paid advertising, AI initiatives and enrollment marketing websites, including Niche, College Board, etc. Niche, College Board, etc.
  • In collaboration with the social media manager, monitor sentiment online and on social media and develop marketing initiatives to respond to brand threats.
  • Consult with campus colleagues regarding marketing needs and objectives to meet goals in collaboration with Team OMC.
  • Work with Team OMC to maximize ways to track, measure and develop metrics to demonstrate marketing successes and initiate appropriate changes to plans, as necessary, based on analytics.
  • Help the college stay on message and on brand with all marketing efforts.
  • Serve on assigned, elected or appointed committees or service roles across the Wofford community and complete other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

A bachelor’s degree and three years of professional marketing or marketing administration experience is required for appointment.


The successful candidate will understand higher education marketing and be self-motivated, innovative, creative and demonstrate excellent verbal and written communications skills. The marketing coordinator should have strong organizational and project management skills and a working knowledge of AI, social and digital media. Relationship building, a commitment to customer service and a desire to learn, innovate and improve are also important traits.
