    Marketing Director

The JCC helps to foster social connections between its members and guests alike, bringing people together through a wide variety of programs and events. With an expansive fitness center, highly regarded early childhood school and senior center, arts and cultural events offered throughout the year, and classes for every age, the JCC connects, enriches, and inspires over 50,000 visitors per month. The JCC welcomes and engages everyone, regardless of race, religion, or ability.
     
    POSITION SUMMARY
    Reports to: Chief Marketing & Development Officer
    Supervises: Senior Graphic Designer, Graphic Designer, Project Manager, Marketing Content Manager
     
    The Mayerson JCC is seeking a strategic, creative and collaborative Marketing Director to lead the day-to-day marketing operations of the organization and translate organizational priorities into effective, integrated marketing strategies and campaigns.
     
    The Marketing Director serves as a key member of the JCC's leadership team and is responsible for developing and executing marketing strategies that strengthen the JCC brand, increase awareness and participation, support revenue-generating initiatives, and deepen engagement with members, program participants, donors and the broader community.
     
    The Mayerson JCC offers an unusually diverse portfolio of programs and services, including Aquatics, Summer Camp, Youth & Family, Early Childhood School, Facility Rental & Events, Fitness, Fundraising & Development, J Café, Arts, Ideas & Jewish Life, Inclusion, Membership, 60 & Better, Sports & Recreation, Teens, Tweens and Young Adults. The Director will work closely with leaders across the organization to understand their goals and audiences and develop thoughtful, effective marketing strategies that connect people with the programs and experiences that are most meaningful to them.
     
    This is both a strategic and hands-on leadership role. The successful candidate will be comfortable setting direction, advising internal partners, managing competing priorities, developing campaigns, analyzing results, providing creative direction and ensuring that excellent work is delivered on time and within budget.
     
    MORE ABOUT THE ROLE
    Marketing Strategy & Organizational Leadership
    • Develop and execute an integrated, organization-wide marketing and communications strategy that advances the JCC's strategic priorities and supports program participation, membership, revenue, fundraising, engagement and community awareness.
    • Develop short- and long-term marketing plans, establishing clear goals, audiences, strategies, tactics, timelines and measures of success.
    • Serve as a strategic marketing partner and advisor to program and department leaders, helping translate organizational goals into effective marketing strategies and campaigns.
    • Bring a proactive, solutions-oriented approach to identifying opportunities to tell the JCC's story and connect people with its programs, services and mission.
    Campaign Development & Brand Management
    • Lead the development and execution of integrated marketing campaigns across digital, print, social media, email, web, advertising, signage and other communications channels.
    • Serve as a steward of the Mayerson JCC brand, ensuring consistency in voice, visual identity, messaging and audience experience across communications and touch points.
    • Provide creative direction and strategic guidance for campaigns and projects from initial concept through execution, ensuring that work reflects brand standards, reaches the intended audience and supports organizational goals.
    Audience Insights, Digital Marketing & Analytics
    • Use participation data, audience insights, market research, customer feedback and other available information to understand target audiences and inform marketing strategy.
    • Establish meaningful measures of success for marketing initiatives and use data and analytics to evaluate campaign performance and continuously improve results.
    • Leverage digital marketing, email marketing, social media, website analytics, CRM/database marketing and marketing automation tools to increase engagement and effectiveness.
    Team Leadership & Department Operations
    • Lead, mentor and develop a team of four marketing professionals: Senior Graphic Designer, Graphic Designer, Project Manager and Marketing Content Manager.
    • Establish clear priorities, expectations, workflows and accountability across the marketing team.
    • Foster a collaborative, creative and supportive team culture that values excellence, innovation, responsiveness and professional growth.
    • Provide coaching, feedback and professional development opportunities to team members.
    Budget & Resource Management
    • Develop and manage the marketing budget, allocating resources strategically across campaigns, channels, vendors and organizational priorities.
    • Monitor expenditures and project budgets and ensure marketing resources are used effectively.
    Internal & External Communications
    • Develop strong, collaborative relationships with internal managers, senior leadership, vendors, community leaders and partner organizations.
    • Establish effective communication practices that help internal partners understand marketing processes, timelines, expectations and opportunities.
    • Collaborate with community partners and external organizations on shared marketing and communications initiatives.
    • Support organizational communications during sensitive or time-critical situations, working with senior leadership to ensure communications are timely, accurate, thoughtful and aligned with organizational values.
       
    CANDIDATES SHOULD HAVE THE FOLLOWING SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
    The ideal candidate will be an experienced marketing professional and people leader who combines strategic thinking with strong execution skills and thrives in a fast-paced, highly collaborative environment.
     
    • Bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, business or a related field.
    • 8+ years of professional marketing and communications experience, preferably including experience in service-based, nonprofit or community-focused organizations.
    • 4+ years of experience managing and developing professional teams.
    • Demonstrated experience developing and executing integrated marketing strategies and campaigns across multiple channels.
    • Strong project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple high-priority, high-visibility initiatives simultaneously.
    • Demonstrated ability to provide creative direction and guide projects from initial concept through execution.
    • Strong analytical skills and experience using data and performance metrics to inform marketing decisions.
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
    • Strong relationship-building, collaboration, negotiation and interpersonal skills.
    • Strong understanding of brand strategy, audience development and contemporary marketing practices.
    • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
    • Experience with Salesforce and Mailchimp or comparable platforms.
    • Experience with digital advertising, website analytics and social media strategy.
