Job Description

Marketing Expert — AI Agent Environments

Remote | Independent Contractor | $124,800–$208,000 annualized ($60–$100/hour)

About the Role

Bring your hands-on marketing expertise to the development and evaluation of next-generation AI agents.

We’re building high-fidelity simulated work environments that allow AI agents to perform and be evaluated on realistic marketing work. These environments recreate the tools, data, documents, dashboards, personas, workflows, and real-world problems that marketing teams encounter every day.

As a Marketing Expert, you’ll help design, pressure-test, and evaluate these environments. You’ll create realistic tasks based on work you have actually performed, define what excellent execution looks like, and assess whether AI agents can make sound marketing decisions when faced with messy data, competing priorities, and multi-step workflows.

We’re looking for practitioners with hands-on experience in one or more areas of marketing. Deep expertise in a specific marketing discipline is valuable; you do not need to be an expert across every area.

Marketing Areas of Focus

We’re particularly interested in practitioners with experience in:

  • Marketing Analytics

  • Paid Growth / Performance Marketing

  • Product Marketing

  • Content Marketing

  • Social Media

  • Creator & Influencer Marketing

  • PR & Communications

  • Lifecycle / CRM Marketing

  • Marketing Operations

  • Brand Marketing

  • Field Marketing / Events

What You’ll Do

  • Design realistic task briefs based on marketing work you have personally performed.

  • Define what each task is actually testing, including the underlying problem, decision point, tradeoff, or judgment call.

  • Specify the documents, dashboards, personas, datasets, workflows, and tool states required to create a realistic marketing environment.

  • Develop or review reference answers that demonstrate what a strong practitioner should do.

  • Create clear evaluation criteria that distinguish strong, correct responses from plausible but incorrect approaches.

  • Review AI agent attempts and evaluate their performance against professional marketing standards.

  • Identify weaknesses in AI reasoning, execution, prioritization, research, reporting, and decision-making.

  • Provide clear, evidence-based written feedback explaining why an approach is correct, incorrect, incomplete, or suboptimal.

  • Help refine tasks, rubrics, and evaluation frameworks to improve the quality of AI training environments.

Capabilities You’ll Evaluate

Depending on your area of expertise, tasks may involve:

  • Diagnosing problems from messy, incomplete, or conflicting data.

  • Synthesizing performance across multiple channels and data sources.

  • Prioritizing initiatives and making marketing tradeoffs.

  • Planning and executing multi-step marketing workflows.

  • Quality assurance and data reconciliation.

  • Triage, escalation, and issue resolution.

  • Marketing research and evaluation.

  • Reporting and communicating insights that support business decisions.

  • Coordinating work across multiple marketing tools and systems.

  • Evaluating whether an AI agent has selected the right action based on available evidence.

Example Areas of Work

Marketing Analytics

Tasks may cover anomaly detection, channel-performance analysis, cross-source reconciliation, attribution and incrementality, and reporting that supports an actual business decision.

Paid Growth

Tasks may involve campaign performance diagnosis, budget allocation, funnel and pipeline analysis, lead recovery, account-based marketing, and optimization of web or pricing journeys.

Product Marketing

Tasks may include win/loss analysis, positioning, launch readiness and execution, product adoption analysis, competitive response, and enablement.

Content Marketing

Tasks may cover research and discovery, editorial prioritization, content production, content quality assurance, and content audits.

Social Media

Tasks may involve social inbox management, campaign and publishing execution, share-of-voice analysis, and judgment calls around owned brand channels.

Creator & Influencer Marketing

Tasks may include creator discovery and evaluation, influencer program decisions, seeding and campaign execution, usage rights, disclosure considerations, and share-of-voice contribution.

PR & Communications

Tasks may cover media pitching, embargo and exclusive strategy, announcement sequencing, interview preparation, coverage evaluation, corrections, and launch communications.

Lifecycle / CRM Marketing

Tasks may involve contact strategy, milestone campaigns, customer communications, deliverability and list health, and lifecycle portfolio optimization.

Marketing Operations

Tasks may include lead routing, workflow design, campaign operations, agency and process transitions, and orchestration across marketing and sales technology stacks.

Brand Marketing

Tasks may cover brand and share-of-voice analysis, messaging consistency, distinctive asset management, and channel and investment decisions.

Field Marketing

Tasks may include event follow-up, sponsorship decisions, regional pipeline recovery, and joint planning against defined account lists.

What You Bring

  • Hands-on professional experience in one or more marketing disciplines.

  • You have personally owned meaningful marketing work and outcomes rather than only managing teams responsible for the work.

  • Strong practical understanding of your area of specialization.

  • Ability to make sound decisions using real-world marketing data, context, constraints, and business objectives.

  • Strong analytical and critical-thinking skills.

  • Excellent written communication and the ability to clearly explain why a marketing decision is right or wrong.

  • Strong attention to detail and consistency when evaluating AI-generated work.

  • Ability to distinguish between an answer that sounds plausible and one that is actually supported by evidence and professional best practices.

Relevant Tools & Platforms

Depending on your specialization, experience with the following types of tools is valuable:

  • Google Analytics 4

  • Product analytics platforms such as Amplitude

  • CRM platforms such as Salesforce

  • Google Ads and Meta Ads

  • Marketing automation and ESP platforms

  • Content management systems such as Contentful

  • SEO and research platforms such as Semrush

  • Social media management platforms such as Sprout Social

  • Project management platforms such as Asana or Linear

  • Customer support platforms such as Zendesk or Intercom

You do not need experience with every platform listed. Tool requirements will vary by marketing specialization.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience building AI training environments, reinforcement-learning environments, or simulated case studies.

  • Experience designing professional assessments, evaluation frameworks, or quality-control rubrics.

  • Previous experience reviewing or evaluating AI-generated work.

  • Certification through a relevant rubric or evaluation training program.

  • Experience working across multiple marketing functions or cross-functional marketing teams.

  • Strong understanding of how marketing decisions connect to broader business outcomes.

Screening Process

Applicants complete a short multiple-choice knowledge screener specific to their marketing sub-domain before review.

Qualified candidates may then be assessed on their ability to reason through realistic marketing scenarios and clearly explain their decisions.

Compensation & Engagement

  • Rate: $60–$100/hour

  • Annualized Equivalent: $124,800–$208,000

  • Work Arrangement: Fully remote

  • Engagement Type: Independent contractor

  • Schedule: Flexible

  • Payment: Weekly via Stripe or Wise

Annualized compensation is based on 2,080 hours per year for comparison purposes only. Actual earnings depend on the number of hours and projects completed.

Why Join?

  • Apply your real-world marketing expertise to advanced AI development.

  • Help teach AI agents how experienced marketing professionals actually analyze problems and make decisions.

  • Work on realistic marketing scenarios rather than generic theoretical exercises.

  • Influence how AI systems are evaluated across analytics, growth, content, product marketing, social, brand, lifecycle, operations, and other marketing disciplines.

  • Work remotely with a flexible schedule.

  • Earn competitive compensation for specialized professional expertise.

  • Contribute to the development of more capable and reliable AI systems.

Contract & Payment Terms

  • You will be engaged as an independent contractor.

  • Work is fully remote and can be completed on your own schedule.

  • Projects may be extended, shortened, or concluded early depending on project needs and performance.

  • Your work will not require access to confidential or proprietary information belonging to any employer, client, or institution.

  • Payments are made weekly via Stripe or Wise based on services rendered.

  • H-1B and STEM OPT candidates cannot be supported at this time.

Equal Opportunity

All qualified applicants will be considered without regard to legally protected characteristics. Reasonable accommodations are available upon request.
