MPB provides a valuable resource to Mississippians in disseminating information as part of the states emergency preparedness and response system. With live stream, on-demand episodes of both radio and television favorites and the latest from MPB news, the MPB App provides listeners and viewers with a way to stay connected, no matter where in the world they may be. MPB reaches over 50,000 people a day through various social media channels, including Facebook, Twitter, YouTube and Instagram. MPBs social channels provide information, news and entertainment around the clock, even in emergency situations.

About the Position

This is an X16 position.We're seeking a Public Relations & Marketing Manager who can turn strategy into actionable insights and messaging into measurable impact. This role is designed for a communications professional who understands how to build brand presence, manage reputation, and execute integrated campaigns across a complex media environment. From earned media to paid placements, from internal collaboration to external. partnerships, this position plays a critical role in shaping how our organization shows up across platforms-and how audiences engage with our content. Position Overview The Public Relations & Marketing Manager leads the planning, coordination, and execution of strategic communications and marketing initiatives across multiple departments and platforms, including Television, News, Radio, and Education. This role requires a highly organized, deadline-driven professional who can manage competing priorities, oversee budgets and media buys, and ensure seamless content distribution across owned and non-owned platforms. This position works closely with the Director of Communications - and is equal parts strategist, project manager, and communicator, responsible for aligning messaging, maintaining brand consistency, and maximizing reach through thoughtful planning and execution. Key Responsibilities Strategic Communications & PR • Develop and execute integrated public relations and marketing strategies that drive awareness, audience growth, and engagement • Build and maintain relationships with media outlets, partners, and community stakeholders to generate earned media opportunities • Draft press releases, talking points, and key messaging aligned with organizational priorities Campaign Planning & Execution • Plan and manage multi-channel campaigns from concept through execution, including timelines, deliverables, and performance tracking • Coordinate campaign rollouts across broadcast, digital, social, email, and external distribution platforms • Ensure alignment between messaging, creative assets, and targeted audience strategies Media Buying & Budget Management • Plan, negotiate, and execute media buys across digital, broadcast, and other paid channels • Track and manage campaign budgets, ensuring efficient allocation of resources and measurable ROI • Monitor performance and optimize campaigns based on analytics and KPIs Content & Distribution Management • Oversee the development and distribution of content across all platforms, including website, social media, email, and third-party channels • Ensure consistent brand voice and messaging across internal departments and external platforms • Collaborate with internal teams to adapt content for various audiences and formats • Develop collateral material, including agency branded assets and merchandise for external campaigns, brand awareness, promotions and cause marketing Cross-Department Collaboration • Serve as a central point of coordination between Television, News, Radio, Education, and other internal teams on all communications and marketing initiatives • Manage workflows, approvals, and timelines to keep projects moving efficiently • Balance multiple projects and deadlines while maintaining attention to detail and quality control, including brand guidelines Analytics & Optimization • Track, analyze, and report on campaign performance using data-driven insights to adjust campaign strategy and effectiveness • Adjust strategies and tactics to improve engagement, reach, and overall effectiveness • Stay current on industry trends, audience behaviors, and emerging platforms Events & Community Engagement • Support planning and promotion of events, ensuring strong attendance and visibility • Coordinate messaging and materials for community outreach and partnerships This is an exempt, Non-State Service, X-16 position, EOM, M-F.

  • A strategic thinker who can also execute at a high level • Highly organized with strong attention to detail and workflow management • Collaborative and comfortable working across multiple teams and departments • Data-driven, with the ability to translate insights into action • Adaptable in a fast-paced environment with evolving priorities • Strong project management skills with the ability to juggle multiple deadlines and priorities • Excellent writing, editing, and verbal communication skills • Strong understanding of digital marketing, analytics, and content distribution strategies • Proficiency in Microsoft 365 and Adobe Creative Suite

Preferred Qualifications

Typically requires a Bachelor's Degree and 3-4 years of experience. Hiring agency prefers: • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, or related field • 7+ years of experience in public relations, marketing, or integrated communications • Proven experience managing campaigns, media relations, and cross-platform content strategies • Experience in managing teams of 3+ persons preferred • Experience with media planning, buying, and budget management • Experience with email marketing platforms (e.g., Constant Contact) and social scheduling/analytics tools (e.g., Sprout Social or similar)

Paid Personal Leave and Sick Leave

Full-time employees receive paid time off for personal needs and for sick leave. Leave begins accruing after one month of employment and may be used as it is accrued. Employees earn approximately 18 days of personal leave annually and 12 days of sick leave annually.

In accordance with federal law, all employees serving in the armed forces or the military reserves are entitled to 15 days per year for military training.
