Growth Marketing LeadDemocracy Docket is seeking a Growth Marketing Lead to drive our marketing strategy across our newsletter products, paid membership, events and brand awareness. You'll be the marketing engine behind a subscription-driven business that reaches 460,000+ subscribers, including 67,000+ paid members.You understand our business, audience and niche editorial focus and you're passionate about our mission as an unapologetically pro-democracy newsroom dedicated to covering voting and elections in the courts. You'll be responsible for executing all marketing strategies, from creative email copy to attention-grabbing calls-to-action to compelling event promotion.This is an exciting opportunity to combine sharp copywriting and creative instincts with strategic thinking, directly influencing the growth and success of our fast-growing subscription-based newsroom. You'll partner with the Audience Growth team to align campaign messaging across channels and report to the Director of Subscription Strategy & Product.Key ResponsibilitiesLead email marketing campaigns from concept to completion, in close collaboration with the Subscription & Product TeamDevelop and A/B test conversion-focused copy across the full funnel, including emails, newsletter CTAs, pop-ups and landing pagesStay on top of the news cycle and adapt marketing copy to capitalize on breaking news momentsDrive free-to-paid conversion and VIP upsell strategies, moving subscribers into paid membership and members into VIPBuild and manage copy for lifecycle campaigns, including welcome, win back, abandoned cart and post-renewal journeys, working closely with our Marketing Operations & CRM StrategistCraft promotional copy and strategy for events across our free and paid audiencesLead survey promotion and translate insights into sharper messaging and segmentationPlan and execute limited-time sales and promotions, including new product launchesMonitor and report on campaign performance to optimize future strategiesCollaborate with the Audience Growth team to carry messaging across channelsRequired QualificationsAt least 5 years of experience in marketing, growth or lifecycle roles, ideally in a subscription-based news or media companyStrong copywriter who can match a defined brand voice and adapt tone across marketing channelsExperience building email campaigns in an ESP, like HubSpotComfortable analyzing campaign performance and running A/B tests to inform future strategiesFamiliarity with Google Analytics and Google Tag Manager, preferred but not requiredProven ability to employ email marketing tactics to convert free audiences to paidOrganized, detail-oriented self-starter who can juggle multiple concurrent campaigns and deadlinesCollaborative, team player who can give clear creative direction and work across teamsPassion for politics, news and/or voting rights and democracyWork Environment This is a full-time role based out of our Jersey City office.
