Starting Annual Salary: $64,912-$77,736 (depending on experience and qualifications)
About this Position
The Marketing Manager/Public Information Officer (PIO) serves as the public information representative, which includes coordinating media coverage, collaborating on communication efforts, and developing media plans. This position also supervises two staff members.
Qualifications
College degree in related field (marketing, communications, PR, etc.)
5 years of related experience and/or training
Or equivalent combination of education and experience
2 years of management experience
People and/or project management
Valid Oklahoma Drivers License and a driving record acceptable to the Citys insurance carrier
Responsibilities
- Communicate with local, regional, national, and international media outlets
- Write and distribute internal press releases and stories
- Pitch stories to media and respond to media inquiries
- Coordinate news coverage and assist with press events, conferences, and public announcements
- Serve as a public information representative and keep City leadership informed of major news stories
- Collaborate with the Downtown Projects Manager to address concerns, handle inquiries, and organize activities
- Develop and implement marketing strategies, media plans, and communication initiatives
- Assist with strategic planning, budget development, and tracking ongoing projects
- Direct video operations and production for TV, digital, and web-based programming
- Supervise the TV/Video Production Manager and Photo/Video Coordinator
- Oversee the quality and delivery of visual media content
Necessary Skills
- Strong attention to detail and analytical ability
- Ability to manage multiple, multi-component projects at once
- Ability and willingness to occasionally travel locally or out-of-town as needed
- Ability to meet the required physical standards for this position
- Ability to pass extensive background process and pre-employment drug and audio screenings
