Job Summary/Basic Function:

To promote a specific department through the use of social media, branding and other outreach. Oversee, create, edit and direct videos promoting the department along with behind the scenes segments, scripts and copy. May include public relations, recruiting, alumni relations, concerts as well as other departmental initiatives.

Department Overview:

The School of the Arts at Boise State University, housed within the College of Arts and Sciences, is a vibrant interdisciplinary community dedicated to creativity, innovation, experiential learning, and community engagement. The School brings together four academic departments-Art, Design and Visual Studies; Games, Interactive Media and Mobile Technology (GIMM); Music; and Theatre, Film and Creative Writing-along with the Arts Entrepreneurship program and a range of creative and cultural initiatives. Serving approximately 1,500 students, the School provides hands-on, career-focused learning through performances, exhibitions, internships, research, community partnerships, and other professional experiences. The School also serves as an important cultural resource for Boise State and the broader community through its galleries, performance venues, exhibitions, screenings, readings, and other creative programming. Through interdisciplinary collaboration and a commitment to innovation and public engagement, the School prepares students to become artists, designers, performers, educators, entrepreneurs, technologists, storytellers, and creative leaders.

Level Scope:

Entry-level professional with limited or no prior experience to contribute on a project or work team. Incumbent learns to use professional concepts to resolve problems of limited scope and complexity under close supervision while achieving day-to-day objectives. Works on developmental assignments that are initially routine in nature, requiring limited judgment and decision making. This level is typically focused on self development. Requires theoretical knowledge through specific education and training. Typically hold a Bachelor's Degree or equivalent relevant professional experience.

Essential Functions:

60% of Time the Marketing/Promotions Coordinator, Associate must:

Integrate the application of marketing principles into various segments of the department. Serve as primary contact for the creation and implementation of graphics "on brand" through multiple forms of media.

Prepare and generate new concepts and ideas which involves a high level of decision making.

Manage production shoots, including digital media for distribution of content in various formats.

Build strong working relationships with program faculty, staff and coordinators for the specified department.

Develop, schedule, coordinate and execute assigned special events.

Stay up to date of changes to programs, partnerships, requirements, etc. to ensure information in all communications is current.

Work with a diverse group of people across multiple departments as part of a cohesive marketing strategy.

May supervise or have leadwork responsibilities

35% of Time the Marketing/Promotions Coordinator, Associate must:

Develop and implement marketing campaigns and promotional materials for academic programs, events, performances, concerts, exhibitions, screenings, productions, and recruitment initiatives.

Create and coordinate content for social media, websites, email, digital advertising, print materials, photography, and video.

Collaborate with faculty, staff, and program coordinators to identify marketing priorities and develop timely, accurate, and engaging communications.

Support student recruitment and engagement by highlighting programs, student experiences, faculty expertise, creative work, and accomplishments.

Coordinate promotional schedules and cross-promotional opportunities across the three areas.

Monitor marketing efforts and engagement to help inform future promotional strategies.

Ensure communications reflect the distinct identities of TFCW, MUSIC, and ADVS while maintaining consistent College and University branding.

5% of Time the Marketing/Promotions Coordinator, Associate will:

Perform other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

Excellent communication skills and ability to build and present proposals

Marketing research and analytic skills

Knowledge of media buys and advertising campaigns

Ability to deal effectively with the public and work cooperatively with internal staff

Good knowledge of: website design, copy/script writing, graphic design, promotional and event planning.

Experience: in higher education recruitment, public relations, advising, or student services. Advertising sales, sponsorships, and direct marketing. Experience in copywriting for various outlets, proofreading/editing promotional materials.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience creating content for social media, websites, email marketing, digital advertising, photography, and/or video.

Experience working collaboratively with varied groups, including faculty, staff, students, and community partners.

Salary and Benefits:

Salary range is $49,732.80 to $50,086.40 annually and is commensurate with experience. Boise State University provides a best-in-class benefits package, including (but not limited to):
