Marketing Student Asst - Social Media

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Marketing Student Assistant - Social Media will support the University of Saint Mary Marketing Team by producing engaging digital content for social media platforms. This position provides hands-on experience in branding, digital storytelling, photography, video production, and analytics while helping to strengthen the university's online presence and connect with current and prospective students, alumni, and the broader community.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Create and edit engaging photo, video, and written content for official University of Saint Mary social media accounts.
• Assist with coverage of campus events, athletics, student life, and academic programs for real-time social media storytelling.
• Conduct interviews with students, faculty, and staff for social media video content.
• Stay current with emerging trends, platforms, and best practices in social media marketing.
• Develop strategies for increasing social media engagement.
• Utilize and maintain cloud-based file management systems and structure.
• Assist with the design and execution of social media campaigns.
• Support marketing teams at live events.
• Other duties as assigned by the Marketing Team.

REQUIREMENTS:

• Working toward a bachelor's degree at the University of Saint Mary (preferably in communications, graphic design, or marketing).
• Experience creating content for platforms such as Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, and X (Twitter).
• Basic photography and video editing skills (Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, CapCut, or similar tools preferred).
• Ability to work on a fast-paced timeline and meet deadlines.
• Ability to work creatively and collaborate with various input from marketing staffs.
• Effective communication skills.
• Must be able to work well in a team environment.
• Proven ability to organize and prioritize work to meet deadlines.
• Affinity with the overall mission of the University of Saint Mary.
