Description

Grays Harbor College is accepting applications for a part-time Marketing and Student Engagement Assistant. The Marketing & Student Engagement Assistant supports GHC's Marketing & College Relations team by:

  • Serving as a liaison between students and the Marketing & College Relations team. This includes building relationships with student leaders, student organizations, and members of the GHC community to understand student priorities, perspectives, and experiences. Responsibilities may include attending Associated Students of GHC meetings, campus events, and other student-focused activities to remain informed about student interests and initiatives.
  • Creating student-centered content for GHCs website and social media channels. This includes researching, writing, and producing stories that highlight student success, opportunities, programs, services, and campus resources. The Marketing & Student Engagement Assistant may conduct interviews with GHC students and community members to gather content and share authentic stories.
  • Capturing photos and videos that showcase student life and campus engagement. This includes attending campus events and activities to create visual content for marketing, communications, and promotional purposes.
  • Supporting student leaders and organizations in promoting events, programs, and initiatives. This may include collaborating with Student Life, the Diversity Equity Center, and other campus partners to develop engaging promotional content, such as social media posts, videos, and Instagram Reels.
  • Contributing to development of marketing plans and strategies. By connecting with students on a regular basis, the Marketing & Student Engagement Assistant will gain valuable insights into the student experience, helping inform marketing and communication strategies. The role serves as an important voice in ensuring student perspectives are reflected in GHCs marketing and college relations efforts.
  • Providing leadership and coordination for student employees and campus partners engaged in promoting GHC. This includes organizing content creation efforts, supporting collaboration among contributors, encouraging participation from students and community members, and supporting the development of engaging content that showcases GHCs programs, events, services, and student experience.

This is a part-time, temporary position and not eligible for benefits. While the schedule may vary with campus events and activities, this position requires being on campus Tuesday through Thursday during school hours. This position is for the 2026-27 school year and will end on June 30, 2027. Sick leave is accrued at a rate of one hour per 40 hours worked. Please NOTE: According to Washington State Administrative Code (WAC) 357-04-045, if you have held a temporary position (unless you were a student employee), after July 1, 2022 within Grays Harbor College, you will not qualify for the position and cannot be considered.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain positive relationships with students, student organizations, and campus partners.
  • Attend campus events, meetings, and activities to gather content and engage with students.
  • Write short articles for GHCs website, social media channels, and other marketing materials.
  • Conduct interviews with GHC students and community members.
  • Capture and edit photos and videos for marketing and college relations purposes.
  • Create social media content.
  • Support student leaders and groups in promoting their events and initiatives.
  • Organize and oversee opportunities for GHC students and community members to work together to create social media content that promotes student success and achievement.
  • Monitor student interests, trends, and feedback and share insights with the Marketing & College Relations team.
  • Represent GHC and the Marketing & College Relations team in a professional and positive manner.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to build positive relationships with students, employees, and community members.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Interest in learning and using social media platforms.
  • Interest in marketing, journalism, social media, and/or communications.
  • Ability to organize tasks, meet deadlines, and manage multiple priorities.
  • Ability to attend occasional campus events, including some evenings.
  • Demonstrated commitment to supporting a welcoming and inclusive campus environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiarity with GHC student organizations, clubs, or the campus community.
  • Experience creating short videos using a smartphone.
  • Experience writing for school, work, volunteer organizations, newsletters, blogs, or social media.
  • Demonstrated leadership through organizing group projects, events, initiatives, clubs, volunteer activities, or other collaborative efforts.
