Description
POSITION SUMMARY
The Marketplace Attendant supports the Hospitality Department by providing exceptional customer service for the Marketplace retail location at Broward Center for the Performing. This position is responsible for the presentation, stocking, inventory control, and sale of food, beverages, and retail merchandise to maximize sales opportunities and create a positive, memorable experience for patrons.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Provide prompt, courteous, and attentive service to all guests to ensure a positive customer experience.
Greet customers and assist with product selection, purchases, and general inquiries.
Set up Marketplace displays, coolers, shelving, and merchandise presentations before each event.
Ensure all products are properly stocked, front-faced, labeled, dated, and displayed in an attractive manner.
Verify shelf pricing, item pricing, and product date labels are accurate and visible.
Conduct beginning inventory counts prior to each event and accurately document inventory levels.
Conduct end-of-shift inventory counts and assist with inventory reconciliation and reporting.
Monitor product levels throughout events and restock merchandise as needed to maintain sales opportunities.
Rotate stock using First-In, First-Out (FIFO) procedures to ensure product freshness.
Maintain proper temperatures and storage conditions for food and beverage products.
Follow all food safety, sanitation, and responsible vendor requirements.
Maintain clean, organized, and safe work areas utilizing a "clean as you go" philosophy.
Process customer transactions accurately using point-of-sale systems and handle credit card and mobile payment transactions.
Know the correct pricing of all products and ensure accurate reconciliation.
Work efficiently during high-volume periods while maintaining accuracy and customer service standards.
Communicate with supervisory staff regarding event details, product needs, inventory shortages, and operational concerns.
Assist with receiving deliveries, unloading products, stocking inventory, and transporting supplies to assigned locations.
Participate in training sessions, meetings, and certifications as required.
Accurately clock in and out for each shift and follow all departmental policies and procedures.
Treat all patrons and fellow team members with professionalism and respect.
Perform additional duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Successfully complete Responsible Vendor and Food Safety Certifications.
Knowledge of retail sales, food service, merchandising, and inventory control practices.

Able to follow established merchandising standards and maintain attractive product displays.
Able to lift and carry up to 30 pounds and perform prolonged standing, walking, bending, reaching, kneeling, and stocking activities.
Able to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
Able to accept direction, work independently, and contribute positively to a team environment.

DESIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Previous experience in retail sales, concessions, hospitality, food service, merchandising, or customer service preferred.
Experience with inventory management and stocking preferred.
