The ideal candidate will focus on promoting physical fitness, discipline, self-control, respect, and confidence through martial arts training. Classes may include techniques from disciplines such as karate, taekwondo, judo, kung fu, or mixed martial arts, adapted for a school setting. This is an independent contractor position and not an employee role.Key ResponsibilitiesPlan and lead engaging martial arts classes that build strength, coordination, discipline, and confidence.Teach foundational techniques including stances, strikes, blocks, forms, and self-defense basics, modified appropriately for children.Emphasize values such as respect, responsibility, perseverance, and focus.Incorporate physical fitness, stretching, and mindfulness into lessons.Foster a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment.Manage student behavior in alignment with the school's expectations.Prepare students for informal demonstrations or showcases (if applicable).Collaborate with staff for cross-disciplinary learning opportunities or events.Maintain cleanliness, equipment safety, and orderly classroom setup.QualificationsBlack belt or equivalent rank in a recognized martial arts discipline.At least 3 years of prior experience teaching martial arts to children, ideally in an elementary or middle school setting.Strong classroom management skills and a student-centered teaching approach.Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.Ability to adapt lessons for different age groups and learning styles.Passion for the arts and a commitment to nurturing creativity in young learners.Additional RequirementsIndependent Contractor Agreement: Must be signed upon acceptance.References: Three professional references required, including at least one from a previous position working with children.Transportation: Must have reliable transportation to and from school site(s).CertificationsValid CPR & First Aid certification.Proof of educational background and professional certifications (if applicable).Health ClearanceA letter from a physician confirming candidate is in good health, free from communicable diseases (including TB).Must provide a current background check from CJIS (including state, federal, and childcare clearance).#J-18808-Ljbffr
