Gary K. Herberger Young Scholars Academy is a learning environment on the Arizona State University West Valley campus designed for highly gifted students in grades 7-12. Gary K. Herberger Young Scholars Academy at Arizona State University invites applications for a full-time, benefits-eligible, 1.0 FTE, Middle and High School Social Studies Instructional Professional position. This in-person position is on ASU's West Valley campus; no remote option is available. Under administrative direction, this position will teach a Middle and High School social studies curriculum. The anticipated start date for this position is July 27, 2026. The 2026-2027 academic year spans from July 27, 2026, through May 28, 2027.

Essential Function:

  • Develop social studies curriculum for middle and high school students aligned with Cambridge International curriculum, including, but not limited to, middle and high school US History, World History, Government, and Economics
  • Instruct middle and high school students in social studies curriculum
  • Design and teach middle and high school elective courses
  • Maintain positive communication with students, families, faculty, and educational partners
  • Keep up-to-date records, including grades and lesson plans
  • Monitor students during assigned after-school duties
