PGS Worldwide is seeking a Mass Properties Engineer in Chandler, AZ for a one-year contract role supporting a leading aerospace & defense company.

The Mass Properties Engineer will support launch vehicle programs by developing and maintaining mass properties models, performing weight and balance analysis, tracking design target weights, and supporting technical reviews. This role works closely with engineering and program teams to ensure launch systems meet critical performance, weight, and mission requirements.

Required Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related STEM field.
  • 0–5 years of engineering experience.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Secret security clearance.
  • U.S. citizenship required.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office products.
  • Basic CAD understanding and usage.
  • Detail-oriented approach to engineering data and documentation.
  • Ability to work with cross-functional teams to gather required technical information.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to develop and maintain mass properties models for launch vehicles and subsystems.
  • Ability to perform weight and balance analysis.
  • Ability to estimate and optimize mass properties for launch systems.
  • Ability to support technical and program reviews.

Preferred Skills

  • Active Secret clearance.
  • Experience programming in Access VBA and Excel macros.
  • Experience working independently on projects and completing work on time with minimal oversight.
  • Experience with mass properties through school or work projects.
  • Understanding of mass, weight, center of gravity, moments of inertia, products of inertia, and what causes those values to change.
  • Experience with launch vehicles, aerospace systems, mass properties accounting, weight tracking, component weighing, CAD models, design reviews, and engineering analysis.

What You’ll Do

  • Develop and maintain mass properties models for launch vehicles and subsystems.
  • Perform weight and balance analysis for launch systems.
  • Estimate and optimize mass properties to support mission performance requirements.
  • Establish design target weights and track compliance throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Maintain mass properties accounting systems.
  • Provide trend analysis and status updates to program leadership.
  • Support proposal evaluations, design reviews, and operational documentation.
  • Conduct component weighing and verification to improve estimate accuracy.
  • Present findings in technical and program reviews.
  • Work closely with other groups and departments to gather data and communicate status.

Work Schedule / Shift

  • Onsite in Chandler, AZ.
  • 9x80 A schedule.
  • Full-time, 40 hours per week.

Pay

  • $48.51/hour
