Primary Purpose

Serve as the highest-level technical expert within the fleet maintenance program. Actively engage in actions that contribute to the overall mission and strategic plan of Clear Creek ISD.

Qualifications

Education/Certification/Licensure

  • High School Diploma or GED

  • Valid Texas commercial driver's license (Class B) or ability to obtain within six months of hire

  • Pass an Annual Department of Transportation Physical (DOT)

  • Good driving record

  • TASBT Master Certifications or be willing to obtain within 18 months of hire (Subject to TASBT updates)

  • ASE or MACS A/C recovery and recycling license or ability to obtain within one year of hire

  • TXDPS Licensed State Vehicle Safety Inspector or obtain within six months of hire

  • TXRRC Alternative Fuel Certifications (CNG and/or Propane) required within one year of hire.

Special Knowledge/Skills

  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills Demonstrated mechanical aptitude and ability

  • Ability to understand and execute verbal and written instructions Must be cooperative and show initiative towards improving skills

  • Ability to work productively with minimal supervision

  • Ability to train and certify others in areas of electrical, diagnostics and repairs

  • Basic computer skills needed for data entry into maintenance systems

Experience

  • Five (5) years of responsible experience in bus, truck, or automotive repair preferred.

Demonstrated experience in advanced diagnostics and mentoring technicians required.

Major Responsibilities and Duties

  • Responsible for advanced diagnostics, complex repairs, and overall mechanical oversight to ensure the performance reliability, and compliance of all district vehicles.
  • Provide leadership, mentorship, and technical direction to all Fleet personnel while supporting shop operations, workforce development, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Assist the Shop Manager with operational planning, training programs, quality assurance, and regulatory compliance.
  • Perform all necessary vehicle repairs as assigned indicating to the Shop Manager when repairs are complete, and another job assignment is required.
  • Maintain a safe, clean, productive, and efficient work
  • Identify and report any repairs found to be
  • Identify any necessary repairs that are above current qualification level.
  • Record time spent, parts used, and repairs on the appropriate forms and fleet management software provided as each activity is
  • Immediately brings unsafe practice or conditions to the attention of the Shop
  • Ensure compliance of work and work area with appropriate state and federal regulations regarding equipment and equipment maintenance.
  • Immediately brings abnormal instances of vehicle abuse and major mechanical problems to the attention of the Shop Manager.
  • Diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical
  • Overhaul gasoline, propane, CNG and diesel engines, brakes, mechanical, and air; front and rear
  • Analyze and tune engines using engine analyzer, ignition analyzer, injector pump tester, and coolant tester.
  • Furnish personal basic hand

  • Work 24-hour on-call duty on a rotating
  • Develop training process for Mechanics 1, 2 and 3 levels including electrical testing, all diagnostics and execute training with Shop Managers support.
  • Develop and document annual recertification processes for each level of fleet
  • Assist Shop manager with identifying other technician training opportunities and methods to improve overall shop effectiveness.
  • Assist Shop Manager with team supervision and management and serve as supervisor when Shop Manager is not present supporting the goals set by Shop Manager and Administrative team.
