Description

The Master Scheduler is responsible for developing, maintaining, and driving execution against Berkshire Greys integrated engineering, production and deployment schedules. This individual serves as the central coordinator of all program timelines, ensuring every dependency, milestone, deliverable, and critical path is accurately reflected and proactively managed.Success in this role requires exceptional attention to detail, persistence in driving updates from stakeholders, strong analytical skills, and the confidence to hold teams accountable for their commitments. While the Master Scheduler owns the schedule itself, execution ownership remains with the respective engineering, operations, supply chain, manufacturing, and program teams.

Integrated Schedule Ownership

Own and maintain the integrated master schedule (IMS) across engineering, manufacturing, supply chain, software, hardware, quality, deployment, and customer milestones. Ensure every workstream has clearly defined activities, milestones, dependencies, resource assumptions, critical path, and schedule margin. Maintain schedule accuracy on a daily basis. Ensure the master schedule remains the single source of truth for program execution.

Schedule Planning

Develop and continuously improve schedules covering engineering development, hardware/software releases, prototype builds, manufacturing readiness, supplier deliverables, testing, integration, validation, customer deployments, acceptance testing, and production releases. Create multiple schedule scenarios when priorities or assumptions change. Perform critical path analysis and identify schedule risks before they become execution problems.

Dependency Management

Coordinate with engineering, operations, supply chain, manufacturing, quality, and program teams to identify dependencies, validate sequencing, resolve conflicts, and understand impacts.

Schedule Governance

Run regular schedule reviews. Challenge unrealistic or incomplete schedules. Ensure tasks are updated, milestones have owners, commitments are documented, and risks are escalated early. Drive schedule discipline across the organization.

Tracking & Reporting

Track progress against plan. Report critical path, schedule variance, milestone completion, risks, recovery plans, long-lead items, and customer commitments. Prepare concise executive schedule dashboards and status reports.

Accountability

Follow up relentlessly on overdue updates and missed commitments. Ensure stakeholders provide timely and accurate schedule inputs. Escalate unresolved schedule risks when appropriate. Drive a culture where schedule commitments are treated as commitments, not aspirations.

Continuous Improvement

Develop scheduling best practices, standard templates, reporting automation, and planning methodologies.

Desired Skills & Experience

5+ years managing complex technical schedules in robotics, automation, manufacturing, aerospace, automotive, medical devices, or similar industries. Expert proficiency with Microsoft Project. Strong understanding of Critical Path Method (CPM), dependency management, schedule risk analysis, resource-loaded schedules, and earned schedule concepts. Experience integrating hardware, software, manufacturing, supply chain, and deployment schedules. Excellent analytical, organizational, written, and verbal communication skills. Exceptional attention to detail. Experience with Microsoft Project, Jira, Smartsheet, or equivalent planning tools.

Key Competencies

Highly organized and detail-oriented. Persistent, proactive, and comfortable holding stakeholders accountable. Naturally curious and able to uncover hidden dependencies. Able to challenge assumptions using data. Calm under pressure and adaptable to changing priorities. Passionate about creating order from complexity. Ability to influence without authority: This role does not directly manage the engineering teams whose work populates the schedule. Success depends on building credibility, asking the right questions, influencing cross-functional leaders, and persistently driving timely updates and accountability across the organization.

Success After Six Months

Establish a trusted integrated master schedule used across the organization. Improve on-time milestone completion through planning discipline. Identify schedule risks before they impact customer commitments. Provide executive visibility into program health. Become the organizations trusted expert on schedule status and critical path.

Additional Expectations

Comfortable managing highly complex integrated master schedules containing 500-1,000+ tasks across multiple engineering and operational workstreams. Willing to challenge engineering leads and stakeholders when task logic, durations, or dependencies are incomplete or unrealistic. Confident saying, I cant accept this schedule until the assumptions, dependencies, and resource constraints are clearly defined. Expert at identifying missing predecessors, successor relationships, resource conflicts, schedule logic errors, and hidden schedule risks before they impact execution. Thrives on organization, structure, and meticulous attention to detail, with a genuine passion for building and maintaining accurate, high-quality schedules. Uses schedule data to drive decision-making rather than simply reporting status, proactively recommending recovery plans when milestones are at risk. Builds trust through objectivity, consistency, and fact-based communication while holding cross-functional teams accountable for schedule commitments.
