Master Scheduler
Direct Hire | $100k–$120k | On-Site – Bloomington, MN
A growing manufacturing company is seeking an experienced Master Scheduler to take ownership of production planning for a large portfolio of custom, made-to-order projects. This is a key operational role responsible for turning customer delivery requirements into a realistic production plan across internal manufacturing, outside vendors, purchasing, and inventory.
The ideal candidate is someone who naturally thinks several months ahead, understands capacity constraints and critical paths, and enjoys solving the puzzle of how multiple projects, resources, materials, and vendors fit together.
Responsibilities:
- Own and continuously maintain the master production schedule across active and upcoming projects.
- Build schedules backward from customer delivery dates, accounting for manufacturing, outsourced operations, purchased components, and lead times.
- Manage finite-capacity planning across internal work centers and outside manufacturing/finishing partners.
- Evaluate requested project dates and determine whether they are achievable based on current capacity and material availability.
- Own inventory planning and accuracy to ensure materials are available when production requires them.
- Maintain scheduling and ERP/MRP master data, including routings, BOMs, capacity, lead times, and work-center calendars.
- Determine when purchase orders and material releases need to occur to support the production schedule.
- Work closely with Operations to ensure the production plan reflects actual shop-floor capacity and constraints.
- Communicate schedule changes, risks, and priorities across Operations, Purchasing, Project Management, and other internal teams.
Qualifications:
- 5+ years of production planning, scheduling, or materials planning experience.
- Experience in a make-to-order, engineer-to-order, custom manufacturing, fabrication, or project-based environment.
- Strong understanding of critical-path scheduling, dependencies, float, and project sequencing.
- Experience with finite-capacity or constraint-based planning.
- Experience managing multiple projects competing for shared resources.
- Experience coordinating internal manufacturing with outside vendors or suppliers.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Experience using ERP/MRP systems and production scheduling software.
- Strong understanding of inventory planning and material availability.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work across departments.
- Bachelor's degree in Operations, Industrial Engineering, Supply Chain, or a related field, or equivalent experience.

- Odoo or similar ERP/MRP systems
- HVAC, sheet metal, fabrication, or custom manufacturing
- Experience working with long-lead-time projects
- Experience managing production schedules across multiple vendors
