Job Description

Position Summary

Theology Skin Bar is looking for an experienced, highly skilled Master Esthetician who loves skin, loves people, and believes professional skincare should feel knowledgeable and elevated—without feeling intimidating.

Our Master Esthetician is a senior member of the Theology skincare team and helps set the standard for exceptional treatments, thoughtful client education, consistent protocols, and an outstanding guest experience.

This role works across Theology's two treatment environments: our Facial Bar, where skincare is social, approachable, and fun, and The Studio, where clients receive more private, advanced, and highly customized services.

We are serious about skin. We just don't believe we have to take ourselves too seriously.

What You'll Do

Provide Exceptional Skin Services

Perform services within the individual's Kentucky licensure, training, competency, and Theology protocols, which may include:

  • Customized facials and skincare rituals
  • Glo2Facial treatments
  • Oxygen-based facial treatments
  • Dermaplaning
  • Nano infusion
  • Chemical exfoliation/peels within permitted scope
  • Acne-focused treatments and programs
  • Sensitive skin and redness-focused treatments
  • Age-management treatments
  • Body and back treatments
  • Lash and brow services, when appropriately trained
  • Appropriate treatment enhancements and add-ons

Advanced or medical procedures are performed only when permitted by applicable licensure, training, supervision, and Kentucky law.

Become the Client's Skin Expert

Every treatment should include more than great technique.

The Master Esthetician will:

  • Evaluate the client's skin, concerns, goals, and treatment history.
  • Help clients understand what is happening with their skin in language that is easy to understand.
  • Develop realistic treatment plans rather than simply recommending individual services.
  • Educate clients about professional skincare products and appropriate home-care routines.
  • Use Theology's skin-analysis technology when appropriate.
  • Document treatments, observations, recommendations, and client progress accurately.
  • Know when a concern or treatment falls outside the esthetician's scope and appropriately refer the client to Theology's medical team.

Our philosophy is simple: Start with science. Not guesswork. Create the Theology Experience. Technical skill matters. So does how a client feels while they're sitting in your chair.

Our Master Esthetician should be able to create an experience that is:

Warm. Knowledgeable. Confident. Approachable. Personal. And fun.

At the Facial Bar, that may mean carrying on a conversation, laughing with clients, educating someone about their skin, and comfortably working in a more social environment.

In The Studio, it means knowing when to slow things down and create a quieter, more private and personalized experience.

The goal is never to "sell" someone a treatment.

The goal is to become someone they trust with their skin.

Leadership & Mentorship

As a senior skincare professional, the Master Esthetician will also help maintain the quality and consistency of the Theology treatment experience.

Responsibilities may include:

  • Helping train and mentor estheticians and skincare team members.
  • Demonstrating treatment protocols and proper technique.
  • Supporting new-service and product training.
  • Helping ensure treatment protocols are followed consistently.
  • Providing constructive coaching to less-experienced team members.
  • Helping evaluate new skincare products, treatments, equipment, and techniques.
  • Identifying opportunities to improve treatment protocols and the overall client experience.
  • Supporting a culture of continuing education and professional development.

Treatment Room & Clinical Standards

The Master Esthetician is expected to maintain exceptional professional standards, including:

  • Proper sanitation and infection-control procedures.
  • Treatment-room cleanliness and organization.
  • Appropriate handling and storage of professional products.
  • Accurate client documentation.
  • Following manufacturer protocols and Theology treatment protocols.
  • Maintaining client privacy and confidentiality.
  • Recognizing contraindications and knowing when a treatment should be modified, postponed, or referred to a medical provider.

Retail & Home Care

We believe the treatment room and the bathroom counter should work together.

The Master Esthetician will confidently recommend home-care products based on the client's skin—not sales quotas.

This includes:

  • Building simple, understandable skincare routines.
  • Explaining why each recommended product is appropriate.
  • Teaching clients how and when to use their products.
  • Following up on results and adjusting routines when necessary.
  • Staying knowledgeable about Theology's professional and retail skincare lines.

What We're Looking For

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Current Kentucky esthetics/cosmetology licensure appropriate to the services performed.
  • Advanced esthetics education and significant hands-on treatment experience.
  • Strong understanding of skin physiology, ingredients, contraindications, treatment planning, and professional skincare.
  • Experience with advanced facial modalities and professional skincare products.
  • Excellent consultation and client-education skills.
  • Strong sanitation and safety practices.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Comfort recommending professional skincare and building long-term client treatment plans.
  • A collaborative attitude and willingness to mentor others.
  • Commitment to continuing education and staying current with developments in professional skincare.

Experience with acne programs, advanced exfoliation, dermaplaning, device-based facial treatments, and professional skincare lines is highly valued.

The Person We're Looking For

Credentials matter—but personality matters here, too.

You may be a great fit for Theology if you:

  • Are genuinely fascinated by skin.
  • Love educating clients without lecturing them.
  • Can explain complicated skincare concepts simply.
  • Are confident without being intimidating.
  • Notice details other people miss.
  • Enjoy building long-term relationships with clients.
  • Are comfortable working in both social and private treatment environments.
  • Don't believe every client needs ten products and the most expensive treatment on the menu.
  • Know when to recommend more—and when to recommend less.
  • Enjoy teaching and helping other estheticians become better at their craft.
  • Believe great service should feel personal rather than scripted.
  • Can take skincare seriously while still having a personality.

Success in This Role

Success isn't measured only by how many treatments you perform.

A successful Theology Master Esthetician develops clients who:

Understand their skin.

Trust their provider.

Follow a thoughtful treatment plan.

See meaningful progress.

And genuinely look forward to coming back.

You will also help develop a skincare team that delivers a consistently excellent Theology experience regardless of whose chair a client happens to sit in.

Why Theology?

Theology Skin Bar was created around a different idea of professional skincare.

Some clients want to sit at the Facial Bar, catch up with a friend, ask questions about their skin, and enjoy the experience.

Others want privacy, advanced treatments, and a quieter environment in The Studio.

We created both.

What connects them is our philosophy:

Honest science. Healthier skin.

And we're building a team of people who believe great skincare can be highly professional, genuinely personal, and a lot more fun.

Theology is a dedicated studio space built to strip away the noise of the beauty industry. We provide convenient, streamlined access to professional-grade skin health — focusing on functional solutions rather than trendy packaging. No fluff. No distractions. Just the honest science of great skincare. Welcome to the studio.
