Master Teacher / Preschool Intervention Specialist provides in-classroom support to assist preschool teachers improve their classroom practice and modify teaching practices to assist preschool children meet the NJ Preschool Teaching and Learning Standards.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assist preschool teachers to plan and implement learning experiences for students that support the district adopted curriculum, NJ Preschool Teaching and Learning Standards, and meet students individual needs.
- Develop, facilitate and present staff development to preschool teachers.
- Model lessons, coach and provide feedback to preschool teachers.
- Conduct programmatic assessments in preschool classrooms.
- Maintain activity log.
- Coordinate with direct service staff.
- Provide support and suggested interventions to preschool teachers, families and other preschool Early Childhood personnel so that all children can succeed within the general education setting.
- Coordinate the administration of a developmentally based screening such as the Early Screening Inventory-Revised.
- Establish a Preschool Intervention protocol including a Request for Assistance (RFA) form.
- Establish and mange a case file for each child with an RFA, including a Preschool Intervention Plan if needed.
- Evaluate process of child and, if necessary, facilitate a written referral to the school district Child Study Team.
- Provide instruction to teachers on how to establish a nurturing, supportive, and positive classroom climate that encourages student responsibility, using positive motivation, clear classroom routines, challenging instructional strategies, and effective classroom management.
- Teach how to assess and diagnose the learning, social, and emotional needs and styles of students, using a variety of assessment techniques and data.
- Demonstrate how to create a stimulating, attractive, organized, functional, healthy, and safe classroom, with proper attention to visual, acoustic, and thermal environments.
- Facilitate transition of students to kindergarten.
- Attend required staff meetings and serve, as appropriate, on staff committees, Participate in curriculum and program development, and in the selection of material and equipment to support instruction.
- Establish a professional rapport with administrators, preschool teachers, children and families.
